Funny that these two are meeting in the 1st round next week in Memphis.

Anyway, hoping for Milos but expecting Verdasco in 3.

I would definitely be truly amazed if Milos can pull this off.

They're going to meet again in the 1st round of Memphis.

Hmmm, since beating Verdasco two times in a row is unlikely, what would be better for his ranking? Winning this final and losing 1st round in Memphis or losing this final, beating Verdasco in Memphis and making it to, say, the quarters?

I'd like to see greatness from Raonic, but I think Verdasco is playing too well at the moment.

Finally, Canadians have something to cheer about. Let hope he doesn't defect to England..

Big serving Canadian eh? Sweet...he's bound to have some British ancestors.....we should let his Head of State decide which country he plays for:twisted: ;)

Hhahah, I can see him Davis Cup for the Montengran neighborhood of SW London.

Anotherr gyame fohr Milos!
I still haven't gotten tired of that.

Well, Go Canada, eh!
Nice contrast in styles. I will try to tune in today.

Maple Leaf Missile  That I like.

1am GMT, can't watch this :( Have to expect Dasco's very solid run here to continue, but I don't mind putting a few quid on Raonic to come out with something spirited.

I think he's 100% Montenegran. The Brits never made it there in their expansion of Empire. Our Head of state (the Queen) only cares about horses. Our prime minister only likes hockey. Oh well;

Cannot believe they are playing two in a row. Verdasco must be happy to see an inexperienced player in the final, but obviously will be angry to have to player him in a 1st round.

raonic will never b top 10 player in his life, this hype is hilarious

Doesn't matter if he is TOP 10....as long as he gets to rank 39 that is fine! Rudeman has the highest ranking of a canadien at 41 or 40! Heck you could be right but you be so wrong....how do you determine if anyone isn't going to what they are! I would say Murray isn't going to win a slam,,,,but he will!

If you've seen him play you'd realize this is not just hype. This guy has serious skills, he's not just a one-trick pony with the serve. Sure he has probably the best serve the game has ever seen, but he also has extremely good movement for a big man, great court sense, makes smart decisions, solid groundies and volleys, and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He has the ability to make the guy on the other side of the net look rather helpless. If he stays healthy and keeps improving he has the opportunity to be one of the greatest ever, imo. Gulbis, otoh, is a very good but rather run-of-the-mill player with no particular advantage over anyone else out there.

I am Rooting for the Singles boys to win the Doubles title today. I had no idea that Mellise was so talented in doubles. No wonder Klahn and Thacher lost...

Experience wise, yes he is the underdog, but if you match up their games and recent form, I say It's 50/50...The question is will nerves effect Raonic? From what I have seen of him so far, he doesn't really get nervous.

Sure he has probably the best serve the game has ever seen,

No. Roddick's is better, Isner's is better, Karlovic's is better, Sampras, a number of other players. His serve is very good but not in that class, a lot of work to do on consistent placement and variety before this is even an arguable claim.

great court sense

Above-average, I wouldn't say more than that.

solid groundies and volleys

A couple of his matches I've seen him be very error-prone off the ground.

He's quite talented and has great potential. But some of this stuff is just over the top.

He's 20, of course he's a little raw. Give him a couple of years to mature. About the serve however...

Consistency and placement perhaps, but he already has more variety than Roddick, Isner and Karlovic.

His 1st serve looks like it's around 65% with a 125 mph average, that's basically roddick. Roddick still has the far better second serve in terms of mph.

His Ao result is really interesting because that's not a good surface at all for his game, which is in the same category type as guys like blake, querrey, gulbis, soderling imo. Those guys rarely ever do as well at the AO. He's going to be dangerous at the USO if he can stay healthy.

Honestly, f*** those of you who are hyping this kid so much. I am Canadian, and want a good player to root for more than anything....but the expectations and diarrhea some of you are spewing are setting him up for nothing more than failure. We know he looks good, serve still needs some work for placement, backhand is inconsistent compared to the games best.

For real, please stop.

It happens all the time, man. Here in the U.S, people were marking Roddick down for having a Sampras-like career in 2003. Boy, did that turn out wrong!

Of course it is too early to say that Raonic will win slams, be top 10, etc., but that serving exo yesterday was pretty surprising actually. And I'm not just surprised that I didn't throw up from all of Gimelstob's smarmy yapping.

I was sure that Ivo would demolish Raonic. In fact, Raonic was regularly in the mid-140s and Ivo was "only" in the mid-130s. Raonic won it pretty easily and yet his serve looks so effortless.

Part of what I think is getting folks excited about Maple Leaf is that he is deceptively smooth. Again - not making big predictions here - but, that trait is pretty Sampras-esque.

He also trains in Spain with the clay goons, unlike other North American players and seemingly against his own playing style...

I want him to have an injury free year and see what he can do. In Wimby, particularly.

Can't say I'm a Raonic fan since I'm very anti-Canada, but I like how he's bringing some enemies together on this forum.

Match is at 8 pm, eh? See you keeners then!

Weird match to predict.

But I'll take a shot at it.

The kid is not that great, fitness-wise. I've seen it before in guys like DelPotro, if that core strength and conditioning is not towards maximum levels these type of guys kinda fade out at some point in the latter stages of the tournament, and especially since Milos already has an insane amount of tennis racked up in the past month or so.

Also, Verdasco apparently likes the challenge of returning the big serve. It's a strange fact, perhaps he's good at it because he likes the position in which receives, that of being leaned over.

Anyway...

I'm picking Verdasco for the win.

Rajeev Ram switched to Babolat Pure Storm just as Sampras has. Rajeev doesn't look like he has any contract. No Stencil

You are the only anti Canadian I have heard of. Were you denied immigration or something?
