Giron loses. Only American left in Roland Garros juniors is Frantagelo. Is he considering pro? Any ideas where Frantangelo may be leaning in 2 years?

Fratangelo will be playing the kid who beat Marcos Giron.. let's see how good he really is.. my guess ,he'll go down in two ..

Fratangelo wins 1,1. he beat the same kid 2,0 a couple weeks ago on red clay as well. tennis is all about matchups i guess

What do you think?

Giron is the best by a large margain. He will be an instant hit in the NCAA and will be a top 15 player next season in the ITA rankings.

Vinsant is the next best, Frantagelo is ovverated and has already peaked.

Based upon his results at the FO juniors, not sure I would say Fratangelo has peaked.

I have heard from a source that Hunter Harrington is the real deal and will likely be a surprise package next year

his results recently would suggest otherwise. but he does have a lot of potential with his tall frame and heavy strokes but ever since he had a great run at eddie herr and orange bowl in 2009 he's been slumping.

Sometimes a recruit just needs a change of scenery and a new coach and teammates and so on. Who turns out well and not well is often a surprise.

About next April I will re-open this thread and start making bold predictions about which recruits were the best. :)

yes that is very true clark. i remember reading somewhere that peter smith at USC said that he expected steve johnson to battle for a starting spot his freshman year and he ended up playing 2 for them that year and now he's NCAA champion. courtney has also flourished more than expected in college IMO.

I agree, there are the sleepers. Good rankings and records but not getting all the press and experience the USTA/big academy players get. Still in the top 25, but the players that may have not had the benefits of having the best training and players to hit with all the time, or not sent to all the extra tournaments by USTA, but still got the good ranking on their own. These are the ones that get to college and if given a great team and coach to work with, will grow exponentially. I expect names not listed here will be the ones in the thread in the spring.

I said that Harrington had recently been demoted from a blue chip to 5 star, but he said don't worry about that, come watch him practice. We'll see, I hope he's right because we need some bulk in the line-up

I heard he has 120 + mph serves as his routine serve. that means he can hit 130mph if he continue to improve. That in itself can carry you a long way in college tennis.:)
Ever hear of Billy Bertha at Wisconsin? How far as his big serve carried him? You need a lot more than a big serve.

Yea but with that big serve, he can be the new partner for Jamin Ball at #3 doubles....:)
Everyone reading this thread has known "Big Servers" who do nothing for 4 yrs. Wow, did you see the big serve on this guy, wow, wait until you see Billy Bertha, this is really a garbage area, its almost meaningless.

I can't wait to see the new recruits USC got to replace #2 & 6. Poldma was pretty solid at the #2 spot . He had some good wins along the way.. #6 is easy to replace ,but a solid #2 man is hard to find .

Perhaps Sarmiento will improve enough to be a good #2.

yeah I think Sarmiento will be solid as #2 .. he did finish pretty good except for that last round lost to Virginia ..his arm has also been giving him trouble for the most part of this past season..

I saw some kid from socal, his name is dennis makrtichian. I was so impess with his game. I heard that he was injured, but i think that he has a lot of potential. I am very sure that dennis and marcos will do really well in ucla!

I doubt dusty will go MN

After the tournament, I think Dusty will end up at Ohio State. I understand that the final was absolutely awful, people leaving because it was so one sided. No, he won't go to the Gophers.

Im pretty sure U of MN is at the top right now actually, but time will tell. From what I gather, he is strongly considering Minnesota. I think its a very likely choice all things considered. What did the state final have anything to do with this though?

likely his status increased. If my memory serves me correctly you had been predicting that McCoy would be the player, you know you Tony have extensive experience with these top players, you making them better. It would appear that Boyer has emerged the superior player.

Yeah it was awesome, he played great. First time he had ever beaten Wyatt, and he picked a great time. When Dusty plays well he is tough, so lots of credit to him as he looked to be patient but overpower him. He will probably look at other Big Ten schools for sure, but Minnesota will be a good candidate.

I think anyone would've thought that McCoy would've been the better player, and to be perfectly honest, I still think he is. One win doesn't mean that one player is better than the other. Wyatt has still done far better in higher-level tourneys than Dusty has. The difference is that Dusty has another year to prove me wrong.

Also, they are completely different players, and when the power-player gets hot, it's hard for the counter-puncher to cope with that.

Here is some footage of their state match:

I notice that in USTA tournaments this year, McCoy is 2-0 against Boyer. The video of Boyer was certainly impressive, although it makes you wonder why the match was not a double bagel. In order to really compare the players, I would need to see how McCoy won his points and games.

Just to set the record straight. McCoy beat Boyer during the year when the teams met (I believe the score was 6-2,7-5). But in the state tourney, Boyer beat McCoy twice. First, in the team competition, where Boyer won in a 3rd set tiebreaker, then in the individual semis, where Boyer won 6-4,6-4.

IMO McCoy is still the stronger player overall (Boyer hadn't ever beaten him previously), but Boyer had a great weekend at the state tourney and now probably has confidence that he can beat him. Remember too that Boyer (a junior) is a year younger than McCoy. The future is bright for him certainly.

Steinman for Stanford playing in the Challengers next week. Look for him to win this one and make a mark in the tour already.

Steinman, who is known to knowledgeable Stanford fans as Stineman, is playing Sunday in the qualifying draw for the Winnetka, Illinois, Challenger. He faces a seed in the draw in the first round. Stineman got a wild card entry because he is from Illinois.

One and done. Stineman out 2-3. Kid is so overrated. Didn't play enough big time events as a junior, got all the points playing in his section which is not a strong one. I just think school and tennis will be too much going forward.

22-0 against 5 stars isnt strong? what section has that many 5 stars? that must be a strong section unless he played the same few kids 22 times....which i doubt.
