Racquets Sold at Sports Store Chains

Are the racquet sold at sports store chains, like Sports Authority or Dick's Sporting Goods, the same as the ones sold at tenniswarehouse or straight from the racquet company? I ask because I am looking to buy one from Dick's and I was lookingat it today and it feels the same but the specs are different. They are the same as the unstrung specs for the Wilson BLX Pro Open but it says "BASED ON UNSTRUNG RACQUET" inside the throat, which I have never seen before.

Why don't you just buy from TW? They are quick to ship, match prices, and offer free shipping over $75.

You know you'll get professional help from TW which is better than face-to-face when it comes to less than professional help at the other store.

That's my 2 cents!

Aside from that, they are the same products.

Look the same....but feel different, with different specs.

They are big box frames licensed by the manufacturer. They are called SMU. An SMU is a "Special Make Up", usually in reference to a larger box store getting a special version of a product that no one else has.

Stick with TW. Or a local pro shop.

I bought a Head Liquidmetal 4.5 from the Big * store. It was so stiff I developed tennis elbow and couldn't play for 2 months.

It's actually funny you say that! I saw a Babolat Aero Storm Cortex, the Red, and it had a listed stiffness of 74 on the sheet! That seems a bit higher then normal! ;)

Because when you buy from a local store, you get to choose which one you want. And you don't have to deal with shipping and RMA.

You can cherry pick in a pro shop. I only buy from TW when I can't find an item locally, unless they got better prices. I'm in CA so I need to pay tax anyway.
