Volkl Tour 10 V-Engine Midplus questions

Can anyone provide some feedback on this frame? Anyone still swinging it? The specs TW had of it look right up my alley. 16x19 pattern that's on the stiffer side for a volkl, yet still under 12oz and a swingweight of 320 which are my ideal specs. I heard it had nice pop as well which I would appreciate. Any comments or feedback would be appreciated as I may want to pick up one of these in the near future. Thanks in advance.

The T10 VE MP was the direct follow-up stick to the T10 MP, which suceeded the C10 Pro, and was a throw-back to their heyday in the 80's with the VE TR 25 and T 9 30, but it was a fairly large diversion, since it was much stiffer. It could do everything, but it was definitely designed for the topspin hitter, and not the all-round feel type hitter which is usually associated with the 10 Line. Unfortunately, the market didn't like the traditional Volkl shape--although the T10 VE Mid is my all-time favorite.

If you are looking for a replacement for the T10 VE MP, and if you want closer in material, weight and design, go with the London. Otherwise, the X10 325 is it, if you want to go heavy nano. It will do what you do with your VE with your standard shots, but much more with the difficult and emergency shots. It also has more bite. The stiffness level is similar, but the X10 feels much softer on contact.

Cheers tennis mav!

Thanks tennismav!

I'll make sure to check out some of those T10 VE MP replacement candidates at some stage. It won't be any time soon but it is good to know what is coming up plus they may get dirt cheap in the future! I checked out the stock X10 325 specs and it looks pretty similar to the stock T10 VE MP specs. Then again, the specs are only a starting point and it really is about how the bats feel in the hand in the end

By the way, I don't play my T10 VE MPs stock. I have modified my T10 VE MPs to make them heavier (350 g) and I love them! Also, I play a hybrid setup with the strings, i.e., co-poly mains and synthetic crosses. However, I do wonder what natural gut would be like in it again! I once played with gut mains and co-poly crosses (Klip adrenalin?). It really felt too mushy and lacked the power that I normally get. It was a very weird natural gut experience in comparison to those with the wilson hypercarbon prostaff 5.0 bats which I used many moons ago! Do you have any thoughts on this?

You are right about their topspin capability of the T10 VE MP and it being a solid racquet but there is one other thing, they have awesome power especially on return of serve!!!!! I didn't really understand what you meant by heavier nanotech being able to deal with difficult and emergency shots. It would be great if you could explain this further. In my case, the T10 VE MPs have been fantastic on the difficult and emergency shots too! They are the best sticks that I have ever played with!!! Moreover, the experience is sweeter because I have won and lost some incredible matches with them!!

Sarge! They are awesome sticks...

Sarge, didn't you play with them awhile back in some old posts?

Anyway, they are awesome sticks! I take care of my four and will not sell them to anyone. I get the feeling that they will be the last four which I will ever see LoL

By the way, swingweight may vary on these bats. I was able to get hold of mine with SW between 313 - 315. On this basis, you may get SW ranging from 313 to 327, i.e., plus or minus 7 SW units if the average is 320. However, take this with a grain of salt. Someone needs to produce a stick with the upper range to verify my assumption LoL Nonetheless, my four sticks demonstrate that Volkl can be pretty consistent with their manufacture ot tennis sticks!

If you find a few, let me know!

I dont recall playing with it. I used to play with the C10 Pro. This stick sounds like one that I need to buy. I need a little more pop than my Fischer Pro 1 has.

If the PB 10 MP was 16x19, it would have been the perfect upgrade to the T10 VE MP, as the PB 10 Mid was to the T10 VE Mid. However, with all of my Volkl experience, the X10 325 is as close as you can get to the T10 VE MP, and the X10 is definitely much more refined--that was the slight imperfection of the T10 VE MP and the Legend, since they could have been a little more refined.

You must have strung the poly crosses too tight. With your mods, if you hit big, try 60M gut/52C poly. But don't use a crank machine.

I must have confused you with another person ;)

No worries Sarge!

As to finding the T10 VE MPs, it may be mission impossible LoL

However, there may be a few around second-hand ;)

On top of this, you may get them dirt-cheap :)

Cheers for the string setup!

I'll give that setup a go if I go down the gut co-poly hybrid path again ;)

It;s been a while, but i used to play these. the earlier ones had a significantly higher swiongweight than the later releases. cant remember what the grahics said, but some of the lettering went from red colour to black, and the ones with the red lettering had a significantly higher swingweight. cosmetic coding.

i didnt find these bats stiff at all. i found them to be plush and lower powered like 10 series racquets are.
