Had a new and frustrating experience this week playing mixed doubles night. Joined a second club this year and when at the new club I'm playing with people I have seen around the local tennis circuit, but don't play with all the time. Mixed night typically is played one set or 40 minutes then rotate, so you get three sets in over 2 hours and have the opportunity to mix around. In one set, I played with a woman whose husband was across the net with another partner. She continually gave her husband who tries to hit everything big and often is long, the benefit of the doubt on calls. In the one set we played, she called in at least 3/4 shots that were clearly long, including their set point that he stroked at least 6-8" long. It was an outrageous gift of set point. Played the same foursome three weeks ago and she gave her husband a couple of questionable calls but I didn't think much of it until it was painfully obvious this week. It's just fun tennis and not much that can be done, except next time we pair off like this I will make loud and quick out calls before she can concede the point to her husband. Otherwise they are a decent couple and part of my expanded tennis circle. Any other suggestions?
