One against three mixed

Played club mixed night this week, with a husband and wife who played on opposite sides for the match. I played with this fellow's wife. Her husband has a big flat serve. Over the two sets we played, his wife...my partner, regularly called her husband's long serves good to the extent, I wondered whose side she was on. When I whipped a long serve back for a winner they protested...rightly...it was long. I couldn't win either way! What a frustrating mixed. We split sets, but I won't play that combination again!

That's a really clever and insidious way to win at doubles, plant a "mole" in your opposing team. I don't think my wife would be a good choice though...too honest.

Hey, it's club mixed night. Family harmony is more important to her. Sorry you got stuck in the middle, though.

OP, tell her you are more comfortable with both playing back when receiving serves. Then she can't make the call because she loses the angle. :)

...he wins, she loses, sounds like some kind of a sleazy deal going on here...what do you want to bet she got to smack him around with a fraternity paddle later on?

If you were receiving his serves, can't you call them out if they are out?
Similarly if she didn't make an out call on a long serve by her husband and you played it for a winner, there is no do over. It's your point regardless of what her and her husband say after the point is over.
