New Rule about Time Violation: The End of Rafa?

It is really interesting to read the about the new rules about the time violation

I think that if they enforce it. It will be Rafa's game over (or maybe Rafa is already out of the game). In fact, Rafa's game, body and focus are not compatible to this rule as he needs more time in between points.

I was going back to some interviews and I noticed this one from Federer

It is quite clear to me that Rafa lost a lot of power and I wonder if he is already out of the game.

In a way... I start to think that the famous silent ban fantasy... is not a fantasy... and now they are trying to hit him hard.

I don't think the rule needs to be changed, but enforced.

What's the point of having a "new rule" if it's not going to be regularly enforced?

That's like telling kids in school to not cheat and tweet/text/call for answers during an exam, but if you do, the teachers won't do anything about it.

Rafa doesn't need more time between points. That is what he does to mess with his opponent. Just like Djokovic's ridiculous ball bouncing, or players that grunt/scream on every shot, or JMac whenever he opens his mouth.

If anything is going to be the end of Nadal it will be his injuries,and not a rule about time violations.

I think he actually does. For a guy that's supposed to have more stamina and endurance than just about anybody on tour, if his goal was to gain an advantage over his opponents, he would be SHORTENING his time between points to not allow his opponents to catch their breath and recompose themselves after a long rally. Yet, he does the exact opposite which tells me that it's HIM that NEEDS the extra time to recompose himself.

I think Rafa just has to play faster, and it is something he has done before when he was younger, so I don't think it should be a problem. It's strange- I once saw a short clip of Rafa V Gasquet when they were 13 years old and Rafa was the one who took very little time between points.

If they've slightly lessened the penalty maybe they'll instruct the umpires to enforce it more rigorously.

My guess is that this is what will happen.

As long as they makes the game fair for everyone, i'm all for it. I hate to see certain player gain an unfair advantage. They should add the new rule for the WTA too.

Well, rather than let a difference of opinion get out of control, I'd suggest you shoot him a email and ask Rafa how he would feel about the rule being strictly enforced.

In an earlier thread I said Rafa's down cycle was almost over...I may have jumped the gun. This was an approximation as I was working without a time of birth. I have one now.

At this moment Rafa's moon is @ 18 Aries. Each zodiac sign is thirty degrees in orb ( 0 -29 ) If the moon moves 1 degree per month, then Rafa has eleven to twelve months left in his "down cycle".

Officially, Rafa's down cycle begun on April 15th, 2011 & will end September 15th, 2013.

Actually I am quite big fan of Rafa. If he is back and win another Slam or even all of them, I would be very happy as he is quite inspirational

Since Rafa managed to win several clay events including one slam after his down cycle started, we can be sure he'll win the next RG too. And if he wins two slams in his down cycle, I shudder to imagine what his up-cycle would be like.

I don't think this time rule will affect him much since his conditioning is usually superior to others. However, this time round when he competes, his conditioning could be reduced due to the long layoff.

How did you find out just exactly what time Nadal was born in order to come up with this?

It's a moot point until they start enforcing the rule, any modification of it is irrelevant when as far as they (umpires) will go is give one *warning* and even that happens very rarely (especially to tennis stars).

They should penalize Rafa one full game for holding up the umpire and opponent for one minute or more at the start of the match, haha ! That in itself is a huge time violation

Rafa starting each match with his serve broken would be awesome, no ?

"Me loves one already?"
"Me Times violation before match start ?"
"I no plays"

don't think it'll affect winning percentage too much if at all. it could even be better for him as well. the opponent will be winded trying to keep up with rafa and be rushed to do it again more quickly. for rafa it's more of an adjustment in his routine and he can simply have a new routine.

I don't see how it would be 'quite inspirational' for Nadal to merely win a slam. Prior to Wimbledon he had made 8 slam finals over the last 2 years and won 5. And as we've already heard from Team Nadal, he will not be playing unless he's 100% fit from now on. So if he's on the court, he's winning slams.

Nadal couldn't even tolerate losing to Rosol that he had to nudge him on the change-of-ends. How would he handle being warned by the umpires repeatedly?

"Nudge" ??? That was assault and battery.

If Nadal haters really believe that, they are insane. A guy who has won 11 slams is not going to be bothered by this new rule, he will adjust to it and I say this as more of a Federer fan.
