New Rule about Time Violation: The End of Rafa?

It is really interesting to read the about the new rules about the time violation
http://london.tennistonic.com/view_...-rules-against-time-violation-and-service-let

I think that if they enforce it. It will be Rafa's game over (or maybe Rafa is already out of the game). In fact, Rafa's game, body and focus are not compatible to this rule as he needs more time in between points.

I was going back to some interviews and I noticed this one from Federer
http://london.tennistonic.com/view_tennisnews/?nid=675

It is quite clear to me that Rafa lost a lot of power and I wonder if he is already out of the game.

In a way... I start to think that the famous silent ban fantasy... is not a fantasy... and now they are trying to hit him hard.

Sorry for bringing on the table conspiracy theories...

I don't think the rule needs to be changed, but enforced.

What's the point of having a "new rule" if it's not going to be regularly enforced?

That's like telling kids in school to not cheat and tweet/text/call for answers during an exam, but if you do, the teachers won't do anything about it.

Rafa doesn't need more time between points. That is what he does to mess with his opponent. Just like Djokovic's ridiculous ball bouncing, or players that grunt/scream on every shot, or JMac whenever he opens his mouth.

If anything is going to be the end of Nadal it will be his injuries, and not a rule about time violations.

I think he actually does. For a guy that's supposed to have more stamina and endurance than just about anybody on tour, if his goal was to gain an advantage over his opponents, he would be SHORTENING his time between points to not allow his opponents to catch their breath and recompose themselves after a long rally. Yet, he does the exact opposite which tells me that it's HIM that NEEDS the extra time to recompose himself.

I think Rafa just has to play faster, and it is something he has done before when he was younger, so I don't think it should be a problem. It's strange- I once saw a short clip of Rafa V Gasquet when they were 13 years old and Rafa was the one who took very little time between points.

If they've slightly lessened the penalty maybe they'll instruct the umpires to enforce it more rigorously.

My guess is that this is what will happen.

As long as they makes the game fair for everyone, i'm all for it. I hate to see certain player gain an unfair advantage. They should add the new rule for the WTA too.

Well, rather than let a difference of opinion get out of control, I'd suggest you shoot him a email and ask Rafa how he would feel about the rule being strictly enforced.

In an earlier thread I said Rafa's down cycle was almost over...I may have jumped the gun. This was an approximation as I was working without a time of birth. I have one now.

At this moment Rafa's moon is @ 18 Aries. Each zodiac sign is thirty degrees in orb ( 0 -29 ) If the moon moves 1 degree per month, then Rafa has eleven to twelve months left in his "down cycle".

Officially, Rafa's down cycle begun on April 15th, 2011 & will end September 15th, 2013.

You now what they say - the more you criticize a player the more it hurts when that player wins a slam. So be careful how much you hurt yourself here.

Actually I am quite big fan of Rafa. If he is back and win another Slam or even all of them, I would be very happy as he is quite inspirational

Do not understand we people see the rot everywhere.,, fascinating

Its bad news for Rafa's opponents as Rafa's opponents need more time to recover from the brutal rallies v Rafa.

Since Rafa managed to win several clay events including one slam after his down cycle started, we can be sure he'll win the next RG too. And if he wins two slams in his down cycle, I shudder to imagine what his up-cycle would be like.

I don't think this time rule will affect him much since his conditioning is usually superior to others. However, this time round when he competes, his conditioning could be reduced due to the long layoff.

How did you find out just exactly what time Nadal was born in order to come up with this?

It's a moot point until they start enforcing the rule, any modification of it is irrelevant when as far as they (umpires) will go is give one *warning* and even that happens very rarely (especially to tennis stars).

They should penalize Rafa one full game for holding up the umpire and opponent for one minute or more at the start of the match, haha ! That in itself is a huge time violation ;)

Rafa starting each match with his serve broken would be awesome, no ?

"Me loves one already?"
"Me Times violation before match start ?"
"I no plays"

:D

don't think it'll affect winning percentage too much if at all. it could even be better for him as well. the opponent will be winded trying to keep up with rafa and be rushed to do it again more quickly. for rafa it's more of an adjustment in his routine and he can simply have a new routine.

I don't see how it would be 'quite inspirational' for Nadal to merely win a slam. Prior to Wimbledon he had made 8 slam finals over the last 2 years and won 5. And as we've already heard from Team Nadal, he will not be playing unless he's 100% fit from now on. So if he's on the court, he's winning slams.

Great, so now there will be even more luck involved on big points. Hawkeye got rid of the bad luck. No lets on 2nd serves will bring the bad luck back.

Nadal couldn't even tolerate losing to Rosol that he had to nudge him on the change-of-ends. How would he handle being warned by the umpires repeatedly?

I think the tennis world has really wonderful characters around with very peculiar traits. Serena is completely unique. At the moment, she is the strongest of the ladies pack and she can really put together some wonderful shows.

I have laughed so much when watching her singing and dancing at the Late Night Show
http://newyork.tennistonic.com/view...rformance-at-the-Late-Night-with-Jimmy-Fallon

Many are sad (for a reason) about Roddick retiring. He was a good player... agree... a bit of a character (funny and arrogant at times), but Serena's package is at completely different level.

I hope she will play till she is 60 :)
I was stunned by this news about Delpo
http://buenosaires.tennistonic.com/...play-the-Davis-Cup-against-the-Czech-Republic

I think he is taking a huge risk in playing the tie. He has an injury to his left wrist (much better than the right, but still dangerous!), but he can end up like Djokovic in 2011.

OK, he loves his country and that is good, but I think it would have been wiser to make Berloq playing the first match.
Hi, here there is all kind of predictions done before the US Open.

http://newyork.tennistonic.com/view...r-to-be-world-no.1-after-the-US-Open-and-more...

It seems clear that Federer will be world no.1 after the US Open, but the question is what about the year end?

I think that Roger has to defend too many points and if Nole wins the US Open or reaches the final he will be the one.

You thoughts?
I understand that the ranking is a 1 year system, but seeing Serena being ranked world no.4 when she is clearly the best of the best of the best of WTA makes me wonder if there is a problem with the ranking system.

http://newyork.tennistonic.com/pg/t...=1237&/WTA-rankings---Serena-still-world-no.4

Do think that is fair?
I love this interview, from a couple of reasons that lead to 2 questions:

1- Lendl gives some interesting insights about Andy and how he helped him. Question: was Lendl so damn important for Andy to win the US Open (I think so)

2- (most important point) It seems that at 0:10 in the video Lendl is smiling that is an event as unique as Murray winning the US Open...

I think he is smiling or maybe a Gioconda effect. Am I right?

http://newyork.tennistonic.com/video_detail/?p_id=368
I like the definition about Serenazilla here in TT

http://newyork.tennistonic.com/view...the-Italians-surprise-everyone---2012-US-Open

She is too strong! I think that she is going to annihilate also Ivanovic and one of the Italians in the semis. Then it will be the time of Sharapova/Azarenka to succumb (like it was in the Olympic Games) to the big tennis monster.

At this point it seems to be more a matter of of many games or sets (if any) she is going to lose.

Isn't it?
I watched Roger during his last interview after his match with Phau.

http://newyork.tennistonic.com/view_tennisnews?nid=1208

I looked quite depressed especially when talking about Andy's retirement. (see at 6.46)

I do not think he was tired from the previous match, it seems it was another wake up call for him that time is running,

He already knows it, but still...
Serena is the real world no.1, no doubt about that. If she is "normal" alias not injured or tired she doesn't play, she trashes people.

From TT
"I`ve practiced with a lot of guys ranked 400th or 500th, I`ve never played with a man who hits as hard as she does.", this is Errani's' comment after the match ehm.. the annihilation.
http://newyork.tennistonic.com/view...-to-face-Azarenka-in-the-final---2012-US-Open

And "9 aces, 38 winners, 24 points won on her first service out of 26. 60 total points won against Sara's 35."

Question is... can Azarenka win more than 5 games against Serena? I go for the "no".
What about you?
Is that your website?

"Nudge" ??? That was assault and battery.

It's lucky Rosol didn't have broken bones and didn't suffer PTSD. I am worried he may still be living with multiple locks on his doors lest Uncle Toni send a team of hitmen :D

Ralph will now have to shorten his FH backswing to save energy, which means no topspin. No topspin= No Ralph.

So,yes this signals the end of Ralph. :D

It will be interesting to see how Rafa adapts when his illegal time wasting and tactics are finally punished. He's gotten away with this his entire career.

I doubt the officials will have the nerve to do it to Nadal though.

Is this for real (about the let as well)?

Can definitely see Nadal and Djokovic getting very annoyed about this. I mean blue clay, rankings, season length... why not a time limit moan as well?

Though have to be honst I don't want points being given away because of a violation.

If Nadal haters really believe that, they are insane. A guy who has won 11 slams is not going to be bothered by this new rule, he will adjust to it and I say this as more of a Federer fan.
