Monfils is back!

Sorry if most of you are aware already, but I was just skimming the draw of the Moselle Open taking place this week and I notice Monfils is in there as the #7 seed.

This is the first time he's played in a long time, unless I missed something.

first tournament in 4 months. Monfils always seems to be out for long periods of time, but has a decent ranking always

Actually, I wasn't aware -- and I was about to ask if anyone knew how he'd been in another thread.

He was missed at the USO. I remember watching him and Rafa play here a few years ago. Boy, was that exciting.

His world ranking has slipped to #44 now. Only a year ago he was in the top 10!

that's better than I imagine it to be. He always has a slam Quarter and a Masters Semi on his resume it seems, keeping him from the 50+ area. I wouldn't be surprised if he won Metz and had a decent run in Paris.

And back he is....holy crap.

Tennis Channel is replaying his match with Rochus. He hit 4 aces in a row in a single game.

He had a total of 21 aces in the match!

His forehand looks better than ever. Movement is still spectacular. But his serve is definitely improved. He was acing Rochus down the middle and out wide on both the deuce and ad sides.
