I´ve been playing with my VCore 95D for a few months now, and i´m still looking to add some stringing options.
This frame does feel very sensitive to string set-up.

So far my favorite setup as been Luxilon ALU Power Rough 16 mains with Tecnifibre X-One Biphase 17 crosses with tension around 50/48 lbs.
The x-one really adds some comfort to the setup, but i would like some extra feel and durability as well.

On a different take, i tried a full polly WeissCANNON Scorpion 1.22 setup.
The control/feel from the racquet was ok, but i really missed the comfort. My elbow didn't seem to enjoy this setup that much... But the feel i got from this string, really stuck in me and i´m wiling to try this string on a hybrid.

I´m also curious about the Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25. As anyone tried on a 95D?
Whats your favorite setup for this racquet?

Signum Pro Tornado 55/52 in 1.24mm. I played that stick and that was the best setup I found. Everything else was out of control for me. Good stick I still got two sitting around.

strung my 95d with poly tour pro at 52/50 and it played very well. however what i didn't quite like about a full job is that i sometimes struggled to get enough feel. not sure why though, maybe the frame is as dampened as the TW reviews say it is? or maybe i'm just kidding myself with full poly. i think its more likely the latter. :D

strangely though, after around 6+ hours of play the stringbed crispened up and it played fantastic! loved the feel but after another 3 hours it started to die and now a hybrid of toughgut and silverstring at 56/52 is in there. a few bounces of the wall in my house and the feel is just crispy goodness.. can't wait to see how it performs.

Tried NRG2 in mains and YPTP in cross 57/55, feel , power spin is nice, but it lasts for only for 4 hours.
Gut main still the best setup for me

edwin, did both multi and poly die at the same time? or did the multi snap? thinking of a poor man's gut/poly when i eventually run out of it. (mikeler's b5e/thunderblast setup?)

The multi (NRG2) snapped just for 4 hours:(
Gut multi way more durable but cross poly (alu power) losing its tension too soon, going to try 4G soon.
You can try OGSM/YPTP, just nice for the value.

wow 4G is not a cheap string. reviews i've read so far (apart from TW's) are so-so, but i would think with its reputedly excellent tension maintaining characteristics, it'd be perfect as a poly cross in a natgut setup. can't wait to hear your views.

anyway had another hit and i'm falling harder for the 95d. just a super solid feeling stick. compared it with my 4D300 and it was night and day.

i need one more 95D but hesitating with 89T, tried to lead up my old 001mid up to 330gr unstrung at 3 and 9 position, rock solid.
Anyone know if there is a new 95D coming up?

heard that there was gonna be a minor update to the vcore line. PP received an email from Yonex themselves IIRC. hoping it is really just a minor update. if they do something crazy like drop the flex and add micro-core i will flip.

When I spoke to one of the reps at the Yonex booth during the US OPEN, it was mentioned that a vcore lite racket would be in the works that is akine to the ezone xi lite.

It's not exactly a market most of us would be interested in and the source probably isn't as reliable as we'd like to be so take it for what you may.

Very interesting..if yonex decides to stick with the vcores and develop the line, they will have me as a yytard for life. For life!

I hit with the 93 just yesterday after a warmup with my 95 and was sorely disappointed. I've been itching to get back the iprestige 93 feel and yonex missed the mark on this one. The 95 was more comfortable and had a ton more access to spin. I felt like I had to work so hard to keep the ball at a competitive pace.

funny how so many of us that were raving about the 89t just a month back have switched. i remember scratching my head thinking how in the world did chris and andy not switch to the 89t after playtesting. i have no idea what i did not like about the 89t, but i am somehow using the 95d. i am perplexed. filphil, i patiently await your comparison. :)

Yep. I imagine it'd be a little above 10 grams. I also use an overgrip with 2 layers of head tape to add some more heft on my sticks.

Unfortunately they're not the YYs. The local Yonex rep could have gotten them through a bulk order but I wasn't about to purchase 12+ grips for 2 rackets. lol.

I've already demoed the 95D so I know what I'm getting in to. With the 89t I just found that when I hit with 4.5+ players(particularly left handed players) I needed more forgiveness than what it was already giving me. The shots produced were marvelous but I'm willing to settle for slightly less spectacular shots for some extra forgiveness.

For the last ten playing hours I've used the Head Prestige Pro and, in comparison to the the 95D, it seems the Yonex 95sq has a larger face than the Head 98sq.

yes. :) but i wouldn't say it's super spin-friendly though. it feels like it's built more to swing through a ball as opposed to brushing up on it.

I really didn't find anything impressive about the 89, truth be told. The only two things I really enjoyed were the paint job and the precision on serve. By the same margin, I can produce more effective serves with my 95d so it kinda voids that point.

It's not a bad stick by any means but it's nothing revolutionary for the mid size category

You'll notice that the 95d is definitely more powerful but has a bit less control. Control is also a relative term because the spin production is fantastic on the 95d so the ball stays in court. Perhaps it's because I grew up training with the Radical MP but I have better control overall with it. I still have a few LM Rad MPs and they're great sticks-- if you're coming from the LM, the transition should be pretty easy.

I think the 95d is a touch more forgiving though, the LMs messed up my wrist years ago

Another note-- the 95d is much more string-picky. You can literally throw anything in the Rads and they'll play.

Hmm, well, I think my two favorites so far are Big Hitter Silver Rough and Big Hitter Black 7. I have two frames open though and am open to trying something new-- take a look at my playtest thread and let me know what you'd like me to try.

pacific classic 16 at 56 and yonex poly tour pro 16L at 54,a bit less power but more control and durability, tension maintenance is decent with that combo.

Just switched my 15 year old good junior tournament player to the 95D a few weeks ago. First time I strung his racquet at 48lbs main and 46lbs cross with Solinco Revoution 1.20 on a Babolat Star 5 stringer. He liked it right away but I decided to play with the tension and dropped it down to 38lbs main and 36lbs crosses and to my surprise, he liked it even more. Balls were much heavier and the spin/kick on his serve has improved.

I am starting to believe about the low tension stringing of polys. You still have good control but the spin and touch is improved. Has anyone else tried low tension poly on the 95D?

I play 46-48 full poly on a lock-out and love it.

I've got one coming to me and arriving Monday. Can't wait to hit with it. Q for those who've played Yonex before this one.

I currently rotate between the RQiS 1 Tour 95, the MP Tour 1 90, the RDiS 100 93, and an RD Ti50. I can throw in the MP Tour 1 98, RDiS 100 98, an RD Ti80, a RDS002 Tour, an RDX500MP, and even a Super RD Tour 95. How do this VCore 95 compare to any of these older Yonex's? Would any of you have chosen the Tour 89 instead? THX for all the help.

I have used RDS002 Tour, RDX500MP before and currently using 95D. They are all good racquets but play totally differently. I have posted my impression of RDS002T vs 95D before (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=399394). 95D is definitely more muted than the other 2 racquets. RDX500MP has great buttery feel but extremely underpowered. RDS002T has the most power of the three but also most demanding. 95D is best for flat shots. It can generate heavy spin but the other 2 generate spin more easily. 95D seems to be most string sensitive of the three for me. SPPP 1.23 and WC Scorpion 1.22 work well for me ~50lb. BHBR17, CyberBlue17 and CyberBlue17/PSGD17 didn't.
