With his title in Shanghai, Djokovic won his 33rd career singles title, tying him with Mats Wilander for the 17th most of the open era.

He also tied Stefan Edberg for 23 titles on hardcourt which is the 6th most ever.

He's racking up the records, certainly in the Masters series anyway.

Now only Monte Carlo and Cincinnati still elude him.

For comparison: Federer still lacks Monte Carlo, Rome and Shanghai (although he has already won Shanghai's predecessor as 8th Masters ie. Madrid Indoors).

Nadal lacks Miami, Cincinnati and Paris. He has not yet even made the final of Cincinnati.

Federer won Madrid Masters AND Shanghai WTF. I think it should be included in his repertoire of titles.

Novak is a HC beast and the way he won this title proved his prowess, both mentally and physically.

They are. I mentioned his 2006 Madrid (indoors hardcourt) title. There is no doubt he has already won the 8th Masters just not in its present location.

The WTF is a separate achievement, higher than the Masters series. Djokovic too won the 2008 WTF in Shanghai. Here I am just talking purely about the Masters 1000 series.

Most single titles:

1. Jimmy Connors 109
2. Ivan Lendl 94
3. John McEnroe 77
4. Roger Federer 76
5. Björn Borg 64
5. Pete Sampras 64
7. Guillermo Vilas 62
8. Andre Agassi 60
9. Rafael Nadal 50
10. Boris Becker 49

With Nole's pace, I think he will reach atleast 60 titles.

As far as Masters are concerned:

(tie) 1. Nadal: 21 - Indian Wells (2), Monte Carlo (*8*), Hamburg (1), Madrid (1), Rome (6), Canada (2), & Shanghai (1)
(tie) 1. Federer: 21 - Indian Wells (4), Miami (2), Hamburg (4), Madrid (2), Canada (2), Cincinnati (5), Shanghai (1), & Paris (1)
3. Agassi: 17 - Indian Wells (1), Miami (6), Rome (1), Canada (3), Cincinnati (3), Madrid (1), Paris (2)
4. Djokovic: 13 - Indian Wells (2), Miami (3), Rome (2), Madrid (1), Canada (3), Shanghai (1), Paris (1)

Djokovic now joins Federer as the only player to have won 7 of the 9 Masters. Each has won them all, except:

Djokovic: Monte Carlo & Cincinnati
Federer: Monte Carlo & Rome

Additionally, they are the only two who have made the finals of each event.

Only Djokovic going to win all 9. Cincinatti....reached 4 finals....someday he has to win.

MC.....He the only guy who can beat Nadal at his best on clay. If Nadal is miracle upset and nole is playing then he is good as won the title.

well Nadal has to lose someday at MC, right? And Djokovic is the most likely to win after him. Cinci just seems bad luck for Djokovic, always so near but so far.

Agassi won 7 too. Missed Montecarlo and Hamburg.
