Do any pros actually use Strings that are similar to the ones the advertise?

Saw one on racquets curious about strings.

They say some of them actually use the mass produced strings that club players use but have also heard some customization and also of the silicon spray that people say they use

They do use what you and I buy, but they have also get some special stuff too (like thicker gauges - Nadal Duralast/RPM 15g). The silicone spray is not from the manufacturers.

did we get to the bottom of the silicone spray saga

Yes...it was laughable bullsh1t....unverified by any tournament stringers, and there are plenty of them lurking around the boards.
I'm not saying silicone spray doesn't do anything...I'm saying that pros don't use such things, and I'm saying that when compared with the major mistakes that happen in recreational tennis...like lack of footwork...proper setup...etc...the effect of such a thing like spraying the strings is insignificant. It's also likely to cause more harm than good by playing with people's minds...has the spray dried up...do I need to spray some more...are not the things you want to think about during a tennis match :)).

It does help with string movement on full multifilament string jobs. Probably not worth spraying a carcinogen to reduce string movement.

But what if the extra 0.5 % spin one gets helps him win a match in his 3.5 league ??? It may be worth living 5 years less :)).

P.S. Back on topic, I think most pros use strings that one can buy from TW. "Custom solutions" are much less frequent when it comes to strings when compared to racquets.

The top pro's for sure get there sponsors' prototype strings offers to use not available to the general public and try them out, shoes are the same way-they use a foot mold to make there shoes for exact fit,,not just 10 or 10 1/2, ect.
