Has any athlete ever dominated a sports event more than Nadal?

Nadal at Roland Garros must be the most dominant performance in sports history. All hail to the king.

And he only dropped one set, with a bad knee this year. His best is still to come.

Yes. With two bad knees next year, he'll be soaring to new heights.

Nadal and his team said there will be no more "bandaid solutions" which means he will only play tennis when 100% fit from now on, and Nadal said he will play less hardcourts and more clay from now on (those 2 South American events that Ferrer plays probably). Probably will never lose at Roland Garros again, because he will make sure he's 100% for it. So instead of dropping one set, he'll drop no sets.

Plenty of athletes have been more dominant. In racquet sports alone, Sharif Khan won the North American Open in squash 12 out of 13 years between 1969 and 1981, reached the finals 15 years in a row, and won the Professional squash championship tournament 9 times in a 10 year period. Rafa, I suspect, has had it since practice alone would put too much of a burden on his body given the nature of his physical problems.

Nadal is more dominant than Lance Armstrong, riddle me that...

Lance Armstrong was a failure early in his career, just like Federer losing in the 1st Round of Wimbledon THREE times. Yet both Federer and Armstrong both reversed their fortunes and won their pet event 7 times.

(and we haven't even mentioned boxers, like Rocky Marciano, who was I believe 49-0 during a 9 year professional career.)

I didn't say Federer is more dominant - nice deflection on your part.

Nadal's best is still to come. He only dropped one set this year, with a bad knee. He has now announced that he will play less hardcourts. You do the math. And who will beat him in the next generation? Raonic?

Don't forget about Jahangir and Jansher Khan. I believe Jahangir went undefeated for five years and won something like 500+ straight matches. He is the GOAT of GOATs.

10 years from now, the authorities will release evidence that you used an undetectable glue that was absorbed by the egg just as you crossed the finish line.

Your 2 trophies will be confiscated and given over to 2nd place finisher Roger, who tried for years to defeat you

This guy is it!!! Hood man is GOAT!! :)

And I did it without bouncing my egg 16,000 times before the whistle, calling for an MTO near the finish line, asking for the Hawkeye system to be turned off, and screaming at my camp and grabbing my leg when things didn't go my way

I would say that Roger wasn't even there, but I guess if we made a poll about it he'd win it

In addition to the Khans and Ester, I'll add:

Edwin Corley Moses (born August 31, 1955) is a former American track and field athlete, who won gold medals in the 400 m hurdles at the 1976 and 1984 Olympics. Between 1977 and 1987, Moses won 107 consecutive finals (122 consecutive races) and set the world record in his event four times

(the US boycotted the Olympics in the USSR in 1980, so he could not run then)

I love how every other answer is simply ignored.

I have to say though, Jahangir's record is one of those where you just wonder how he could ever be that good. I mean, 555 wins in a row!

With his knee problems getting worse, should Nadal participate in wheelchair tennis so that he can eclipse Esther's record as the most dominant athlete in the world?

It would be a huge challenge though, as he has to find a way how to pick his bottom continuously on a wheelchair.

Michael Jordan dominated every NBA finals he played
And it had nothing to do with the fact that it was his favorite surface or weather conditions or blablabla
Even in the playoffs before 91 he was ultra dominent but didnt have the sufficient back up to make the difference.
MJ was domination.

It's crazy to assume that he will win RG without dropping a set. I do agree that he will win RG though

LOL he only dropped one set this year, and he was in horrible physical condition.

Nadal has said there will be less hardcourt events in his schedule from now on, and most importantly he said he won't play tennis unless he's 100% - unlike 2012 when he played Miami after struggled with problems at Indian Wells.

If he won in such a horrible physical condition with Djoko being at his best means only one thing: Nadal is using PED's and him winning has nothing to do with proper tennis

To the OP, there has probably already been a thread about nadal's domination at Roland Garros, no need to start another one.

Weird how that horrible physical condition didn't come out until after wimbledon, and weird that he was running around like a rabbit during the FO.

Nadal was in fine condition at Rolland Garros, and if he wasn't it didn't affect his play. Repeating his 2012 clay performance could be a big ask in 2013.

Let's get this straight. Nadal dominated the clay season, that is it! He never dominated tennis like Roger Federer. You can't dominate the sport when you haven't won a non-clay title for 2 years, and never defended a non-clay event in his entire career. And he only ranked 100 weeks at #1.

The OP is hyping Nadal.
