Dunlop Ice?

What do you guys know about this string? It looks cool but does it perform well too? I'm used to strings like TB or PHT so would this be a good string to try out?

I am playing with it right now... 8hours playing and still feels like new, but now strings started to move, and are about to break.
Tension drop wasn't bad after 8hours, and it gives a lot of spin, very close to AluPower-Rough, but with more grab/spin on the ball.
Racket: Customized Wilson PS-BLX 6.1 95-16x19, strung @ 19/17kilos.
Very very good string, with a good price.

Awesome. I'll be using it as a main with Solinco Revolution crosses at 54/50 (is that weird?) in my tour Diablo mid thats coming on friday. so thats tensions 42/37 lbs right?.

The price is extraordinary. $65 for a 200m reel?

Definitely worth trying.

The Dunlop Juice also sounds interesting though it seems that no one has tried it even though its been out for some time.

What about the power level?

If you have already used AluPower-Rough, you will notice almost the same "power", but with more spin/grab, so your ball will land a little shorter at the same tension, so just drop 1 or 2 kilos in tension.
I use to play with Head ATP Tour balls, and in 1~1.5 hours playing with this string, the balls are "bald".

I would say this is until now, the best string for spin that I have used, among many many co-polys.
As for comfort, I use co-polys at a low tension, from 21kilos to 17kilos, according to temperature and racket/pattern.

Actually i'll be holding off on that:oops:. i had a hit earlier with a friends racket. One of the few people i know over here who even know about gut/poly and now i'm hooked:twisted:. so i've decided to save the Ice for later and replace it with Babolat VS Natural ThermoGut 16 Touch Black in the mains at 52/49. I'll Probably try Ice in my redondo mid once the strings break as they are starting to fray.:)

I just ordered a set of the 17. I loved the juice on serves but had a little too much pop on groundstrokes.

What does TT recommend for tension? I normally play with Black Widow at 56.

I honestly have no idea. BW is a super super soft poly, (If not the softest one there is) so I would recommend a few lbs down to account that Ice might be a bit stiffer. Maybe 54lbs?

Black Widow it's a very soft copoly string.

Dunlop ICE it's more stiff/crisp than BW, just like AluPower-Rough.
I would drop from 56 to 50, or 48. Notice that I am using it @38/36 :)

I have played Juice 17 and really liked it, held tension well, just moved too much on the stringbed for my liking....maybe it needed a few hours to get settled in.

Hey Art Art! That sounds really intriguing. I do like crisp string. Does it stay crisp, or does the crispness disappear after an hour or two like Alu?

Hi Torres ;)

It stills feels crisp after (maybe) 4hours of good tennis ;)
After that, it became to fray and move a bit, so you have 4 hours of good play with it.

Notice that it will allways depends on the player and the racket.
I'm now using a moded Blx 6.1 95 16x19, with a 18x20 racket, I guess it will last longer than this...

Try it, and let us know about it :)

Used the 17 for the first time last night -- can't say I was a huge fan.

The biggest strength was huge, bouncing up near and around my opponent's head. I never got comfortable with my groundstrokes, although by the end of the session I was dialing in my backhand. Had to scale in my forehand to keep it within the lines. Volley touch was nothing to write home about, and I had some trouble controlling my flat serve.

I was using Ice as a cross for Tourna BHB7, but I've moved to a softer cross after deciding Ice was a bit too stiff for me.

I tried this yesterday
wil.juice.100 16/18 (not a racquet associated with comfort)
B.origin/d.ice 58/53lbs, both 16g
felt hard when bouncing on my hand coming of st.machine
but I was pleasantly surpriced when I got to hit this combo
kept checking for string to stay out of place, nope, straight as could be
power was good, comfort was great (mostly due to origin)
control seemed good, I served, volkeid, hit baeelibe rallies, no notisable erratic hits,, other person also commenting on comfort and how he kept hitting the rackets sweet spot,,
I bought it thinking it would be a good slick cross, thats exactly what it does (17g, 18g, 19g would be best)
its also a cool clear color

I used it as a cross with kevlar. Strung it at 86lbs. Its one of the polys like Isospeed baseline that cant be strung that high. It didnt break but just continued to stretch and stretch and stretch.

yeah, I beleive it, its strange since d.ice for me seems very stiff when installing betwenn 50-60 lbs, but then it playes soft... weird
anyway, do you know of any other clear poly out there?
I did like the water.clear color of d.ice, but I would get a 18g next time, it would be a good cross string for me..
