All signs point to the opposite. I really just want him to retire and get it over with. Dragging this on for so long has amounted to absolutely nothing.

In a forum full of worthless threads this may be a new low. It is so totally vacuous that, just by itself, it signals the devolvement of humanity back to the primitve state of cave-dwelling and the coming of the apocalypse . Whatever knowledge I had about tennis before this thread has been diminished and I feel stupider having read it.

Lol,he has no date to come back because he's not coming back. At least that's what I gather from the situation. As I already said; I wrote him off as retired months ago,and until he actually steps back on the court in a pro tournament,I will maintain that opinion.

His Facebook pics have gone since he hasn't been playing, from him looking quite grim in them, lots of pics without him in them, to smiley rafa working out on the gym saying he will be back soon.

So he's been posting all those smiley pics saying how he cannot wait to be back because...

To quote McEnroe, you cannot be serious.

That really doesn't mean anything. He's supposedly so happy, yet he said today that he is again pushing back his return to practice another 2 weeks. Doesn't sound like good news at all to me.

And analyzing how happy he looks in his FB pics is something VB speculated on. It's just a way to make themselves feel better, and I don't buy it.

When Nadal does return, he won't be the same Nadal, unless he's been practicing the entire time and has lied to surprise us.

It's a pretty clear evolution.

**** is rafa with an accent.. i heard it on the tv when someone from spain was talking a he said rafa and it sounded like ****...now it is in my head.

:)
Doesn't sound like the way a Spanish speaking person would pronounce his name though.

Eh,I don't see the significance. Unless people have the power to read his mind just by looking at a FB picture of him working out in the gym,it's all just speculation and wishful thinking.

Good question. I think Rafa will announce on fb in December on eve of Abu Dhabi tourney! It will read ''I have decided to retire from tennis after trying very hard to return from my knee injury. Thanks for your support''.

I have lost hope! His heart isn't in this sport anymore. That is just my perception.

Let's make a bet Ms Nadal, and I'll make it small because I know not everyone here has much money.

When Nadal returns at the Australian Open 2013, you can pay me $100. And if Nadal doesn't return at Australian Open 2013, I'll pay you $100. Paypal is fine with me.

Deal.

We cannot read his mind, but the significance is pretty clear unless he's faking smiles and lying just for the sake of it.

Plus, you have no problem attributing a lot of significance to his Facebook pics (he looks happy outside of tennis = he doesn't want to play).

There's a lot more speculation to what you're doing.

I didn't speculate that he said he felt like he has been on the tour for a 100 years. Nor did I speculate when he said he has lost passion for tennis. Those comments came straight from him,and correlate with his on court demeanor and behavior. Looking at a FB picture and determining that he is working feverishly to get back, and that he looks thrilled to be doing so,even though his own comments say otherwise,is purely just wishful thinking and speculation with nothing to back it up.

the way he looks on court is fact, the way he looks in pictures is speculation

I am not a betting lass :). I am just trying to toughen myself up I guess because Rafa has been gone for months :(. Of course I hope that I am wrong! Because, it's not the same without Rafa. His fans miss him like me.

I am full of worry for sure. Until Rafa is back on court playing, my worries will go on. Thanks for your words though. Rafa is a fighter for sure and I want him to rise again and do his stuff in typical Rafa fashion! :). Rafa knows that Roger gets adultation the world over but does he know how much his fans miss him?

He said that like more than a year ago already. Then he also said he felt more passionate again. And played like it, for that matter.

Plus, why would you give so much credence to what he said then, and not to what he says now?.

Well, just what exactly has he said now? He hasn't said much of anything other than posting endless gym pics, and pictures of a thunderstorm brewing. I also think when he said those things last year he meant them, and until I see otherwise that's what I choose to believe.

Yeah, Rafa's comments kinda killed my image of him. He seems to hate his tennis life. We shouldn't be his fans, should we? We are liking someone who hates tennis . I never realised that he was so unhappy with it all.

What did you think about Rafa's lack of motivation/passion speeches last year and that he isn't obliged to win RG?. It wasn't nice to hear, was it? For me as a Rafa fan, that words upset me quite a lot tbh.

Even Navratilova started getting bored and took a gap from tennis perhaps nadal is doing the same but it will freshen him up

It wasn't nice to hear. It was disheartening for his fans. Now we are supposed to just forget what he said and pretend as if it never happened because he has been posting pics of himself working out in the gym,and lame Rocky videos on his FB? That's not the way it works, folks.

What did you make of Rafa's loss of passion/motivation speeches and that he is not obliged to win RG?. As a Rafa fan those words upset me quite a lot last year. I couldn't believe my ears! To me passion is Rafa's middle name. He felt so down that he bared his soul like this. I can't get over it tbh.

It would do well to remember that Rafa is a human being with feelings, not a machine.

Oh really?, I didn't know that. Those words have made me think that Rafa hates tennis. And when he said those things straight away I thought that he would go soon. And a few months later, he has :(

And if he feels that way then why continue on? Just quit and be done with it instead of all the hem hawing around.

This is it. If I was him and feel like that I would quit. He has all the money he needs and won everything. That is why I fear he won't come back, what for if he hates it so much? He doesn't need to ever hold a racquet in his life ever again, he can have his freedom at last.

The time to quit is when you start resenting or hating getting up in the mornings to train, practice or to play tennis matches. Rafa seems eager enough in his facebook messages, to me.

Yup, I remember when Sampras in interview said that he was trying to start practicing for Wimbledon in 2003 but couldn't motivate himself to do so he realized it was the end.

Contrary to what most people think, he didn't retire after 2002 USO but was prolonging it for a good part of 2003, saying he'll participate in a tourney then cancelling it etc.

He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

I mean beaten.

How? By posting pointless gym pics and Rocky videos? Nadal needs to actually do something instead of only talking about doing something.

Like returning to the tour! Wild goose chase at the moment. But have you guys ever thought that Rafa may be practising behind closed doors? You never know . He posts what he wants the world to see on fb.

Uhm, that he's working hard to come back?. You're choosing to believe one thing he says and not the other, based on nothing.

Like Mustard said, Nadal is a human being, and if he was feeling a little burned out last year, due to the years he's been doing this, to Toni, to his tendinitis problems, whatever, he had every right to say so.

It wasn't some kind of personal offence to you nor to anyone.

I find it incredible that fans of his would accuse him of a lack of passion or of not working enough. him, of all people

He also said, I repeat, that he felt more passionate again and the way he played this year is all the proof anyone should need.

How? By posting pointless gym pics and Rocky videos? Nadal needs to actually do something instead of only talking about doing something.

You mean he needs to do something that might be harmful to his body and career because a couple of fans are getting impatient?. Please.

He and/or Benito care enough to keep posting stuff for fans. You should thank them or, if it somehow bothers you, ignore it.
