I think Ms. Nadal is trolling, but I doubt Clarky is :)

No. am not. Not this old joke again. YAWN! I want Rafa to come back, can't you tell?. But, am just not optimistic. When he returns, you can all say to me ''I Told you!''. Then we can party! Am just a drama queen.

Uhm, that he's working hard to come back?. You're choosing to believe one thing he says and not the other, based on nothing.

Like Mustard said, Nadal is a human being, and if he was feeling a little burned out last year, due to the years he's been doing this, to Toni, to his tendinitis problems, whatever, he had every right to say so.

It wasn't some kind of personal offence to you nor to anyone.

I find it incredible that fans of his would accuse him of a lack of passion or of not working enough. him, of all people

He also said, I repeat, that he felt more passionate again and the way he played this year is all the proof anyone should need.

You mean he needs to do something that might be harmful to his body and career because a couple of fans are getting impatient?. Please.

He and/or Benito care enough to keep posting stuff for fans. You should thank them or, if it somehow bothers you, ignore it.

I don't think it's based on nothing. He said something that he later had to backpeddle on in order to get people off of his case about it. What he really meant was what he said to begin with.

I don't see it. I think he is still burned out,and if he is why does he continue to play even though he doesn't have to? Wouldn't it be better to just quit instead of making yourself miserable?

Hilarious. How many exos and needless events has he played with his knees bothering him? Everytime he signs up to play yet another exo,it only makes his problems worse. I know he has knee trouble which is a big reason why I hate it when he plays excessively by playing exos and needless hardcourt tournaments, yet you seem to think that none of that matters when it comes to why his knees are shot. His creaky knees never stopped him from heading to Abu Dhabi,or playing exos he doesn't even remotely need to be playing(has some scheduled for next year as we speak). I guess he doesn't care about his own physical wellbeing since he constantly picks money over his own knees. Funny stuff.

They are trying to keep him relevant, and don't care whatsoever about the fans. It's all about keeping his name out there since he's been out.

I agree Clarky. We are the sensible ones who are being honest. Rafa should just quit as tennis doesn't make him happy. Good luck to Ferrer who will be the new number four! Rafa should man up and just make announcement. He has had long enough to decide. Tennis is fine without Rafa. I just don't have a favourite anymore. I don't care about the players I watch now. I have no emotional attachments to them so no more heart attacks! :). And no more staying up all night for AO and USO! Least I won't lose sleep anymore and buying expensive tennis tickets, waiting for hours to catch Rafa and the travel costs! Not bad, thanks Rafa! :). I can just watch as a neutral now. Rafa made me do all that nonsense. I won't be having anymore favourite players now. Done with that!.

According to you.
I'm not saying he didn't mean it by the way, but that doesn't mean his feeling are static and they have to stay the same.
He felt like that but either loves tennis enough and/or is competitive or ambitious enough, to have regained his passion and done what he did this year. I for one give him a lot of credit for that. Other players haven't managed that.

Maybe because, contrary to what you think, he does want to play and it doesn't make him miserable.

Neither of us know how much his knees have been bothering when he's played exos. I would certainly think not so much as they have been bothering him now. He did cancel the exo against Djokovic. And didn't play any matches on the DC either.
I'm sure it isn't two or three exos a year that are what has his knees in the state they are.

Clarky and Ms. Nadal are depressing me and I'm not even a Nadal fan.

Yup, I remember when Sampras in interview said that he was trying to start practicing for Wimbledon in 2003 but couldn't motivate himself to do so he realized it was the end.

Contrary to what most people think, he didn't retire after 2002 USO but was prolonging it for a good part of 2003, saying he'll participate in a tourney then cancelling it etc.
Seriously. Great fans they are. Luckily, like all Clarky's other predictions they will be wrong. I'd be shocked if Nadal didn't come back.

Well, while I do believe Clarky is a Nadal fan I'm not so sure about Ms.Nadal, this forum has its fair share of bull$hitters and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's some Fed fan's double account or something.

No,according to him. No sooner than he said that the questions started rolling in and he immediately backpeddled. He did it to save his skin, and to get those people off of his case.

But he didn't do much this year at all. He hasn't played to be able to do anything.

Could have fooled me.

Come on,Crisstti. Do you believe his knees magically stop hurting when he plays an exo? He has made dumb scheduling decisions throughout his entire career. Like playing Rotterdam(for the appearance fee)only a week after a gruelling AO where his knees were already bothering him. How about playing Madrid that same year even though he said he was in serious pain beforehand? Dumb decisions like that have cost this guy so much throughout his entire career, and those particular boneheaded decisions cost him most of the 2009 season, and his ranking. He didn't win a thing for a year afterwards. He does this type of stuff all the time, and is pretty much renowned for his dumb scheduling. He has still not smartened up about his schedule, and has more exos planned for next year, even though he missed most of this season with injury. You don't think that's senseless and ridiculous?

If he does come back he won't be a factor anymore. He is so far below the likes of Fed,Murray and Cvac at this point in time,I don't know how he will ever get back again.

Clarky only does this in an attempt to anti-jinx Nadal.

I think she went to far and anti-jinxed him right out of 2012. She wanted Nadal to win, so she said, "Nadal won't win another match all year."

And it came true, lol. OOPS.

I wouldn't count out Nadal. If he can get back on the tennis court and basically be at where he was before physically, then he can get back in the groove on a tennis pretty darn quickly. He's played tennis his whole life. That muscle memory does not just evaporate. The conditioning will take some time and he may not do that well at the Australian Open, but if he starts finding his form say later in 2013, I say watch out top three1 We'll see how he progresses. I have a feeling that Nadal would love to prove a lot of doubters wrong, but of course he is a human being. He's a very determined tennis champion with a really unique skill set, even at the top ranks.

You can't know that. He hasn't back-peddled about other things he's said before which have been controversial.
And like I said, what he did this year shows otherwise. And he did quite a lot, only reaching the AO final (which he could well have won, you know, on Novak's best surface before his grandfather died), and won Montecarlo, Rome and RG beating Djokovic.

Could have fooled me.

You're predisposed.

I don't think he plays them when he's in bad shape, like this year, when he didn't even play DC. Can't you give him some credit for that?.

But yes, he's made some less than brilliant scheduling decisions.

If he does come back he won't be a factor anymore. He is so far below the likes of Fed,Murray and Cvac at this point in time,I don't know how he will ever get back again.

He isn't "so far below them". He hasn't been playing.

And you can't know he didn't. But it's awfully coincidental that his story changed when he got questioned about saying those things.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Doesn't matter anymore, and him making that final is what started his knee troubles this year. I would rather he lost early than make that final only to come away with nothing but yet another injury.

You know what I think about those wins so I won't repeat it.

So are you.

Yes he does. I already pointed out some of the times he has played with injury in the past and how much it has cost him. He played the DC final last year with a knee problem. He did it again this year at IW and Miami as well. He was even limping in that match against Tsonga in Miami this year. He does it all the time.

I beg to differ. They have passed him by and if he comes back,I doubt he will be able to compete with them anymore. I bet they are all wishing and praying they draw him at the AO next year because drawing him will likely be a bye to the next round(if he even makes it that far).

I don't think it changed that fast actually. I remember when asked he said he had been feeling tired. Plus he made the "100 years" comment in RG and the other one about losing passion a while later.

It matters since you say he can't possibly beat Novak anywhere.

Since he has recurring problem I would think he plays with some problems most of the time. He he didn't he couldn't be a pro at all. It must not be easy to be in his shoes and decide when it's too much and he should actually stop. He's said he probably should have withdrawn from Wimbledon but was feeling too confident and couldn't do it.

We will see then. I'm sure if he's healthy enough he will do just fine.

I like Federer and dislike Nadal, but Ms Nadal is fine. She appears so young, innocent and emotional on these boards that ooze hatred against Nadal that it sometimes feels very awkward and wrong.

I think we need to ask her to show her titz to prove she's real. Should I start a poll for that?

sadly we cant really believe gool old 'uncle toni'..he comes out with all this stuff that turns out to be not accurate..maybe he really believes it when he says 'rafa is practising next week' or whatever else he said in the past (loads of stuff),

But 'uncle toni' continues to subtract credibility from himself. :-|

Exactly, Uncle Toni and co should speak when they are sure it will happen like the day before or on the actual day. And just stay quiet until that time.

Sure, and Toni has given multiple different dates as to when Nadal will start practicing again over the last month+,and he still hasn't hit the courts. Until I actually see him on the practice court playing tennis,I will think Toni is just full of it.
