Club recommendation in ATL

Not too many indoor options in the Suwanee area. James Creek has a few indoor courts and outdoor hard and clay. They are more on the Cumming, GA side of Suwanee. On the 85 side you don't have a whole lot of options for indoor play.
Most tennis in Atl is subdivision based. So really you need to meet some folks and get on a team at your level which will probably be out of a subdivision.
Teams for spring ALTA are forming now. What level USTA are you playing?

Thanks, I'll visit James Creek (it's 6 miles away so it's not bad).
I played 4.0 singles/doubles and 8.0 mixed. Now I can even play for Seniors!
Do subdivision teams looking for 'outside' players ?
up north teams are based out of clubs so it was a little bit different....plus you can play leagues, drills, etc

James creek might be better for you.
Other indoor courts are in norcross (lifetime fitness tennis: used to be the racket club of south) and Emory university.
It might be too far away from you and probably more expensive.
There are many ALTA teams and looking for players so you will be able to find teams.
Also visit meetup.
There is one group which plays at Suwanee area.

80000 people play alta - not too hard to meet people. The subdivision can be a little clickish to get into. But once you meet a few folks shouldn't be a problem.
I play out of Georgia Gwinnett College (use to be Collins Hill Athletic Club) off Collins Hill Road near 316. Nice public facility with 12 hard and 4 clay. If that is close, you are welcome to be my guest and come out and hit.

i'm a member at james creek. they have 4 indoor hard courts, 6 outdoor hard, 2 clay. good kids academy...lots of adult drills + some adult teams. not sure the latest.
i recommend you check www.altatennis.org. this area of town (suwanee, duluth, cumming, john's creek) has a lot of teams. if you dont know anyone, you can post 'player looking for team' on alta and usta websites.

miki, if you need to hit with someone, I'm a 3.5 - 4.0 player and I live in Suwanee. There aren't too many public courts in the area (unfortunately) but we can find some courts to hit around. I am also going to look into James Creek (didn't know they allowed outside members) as my USTA team is located in Alpharetta on the other side of 400 and I'm looking for some flex league home courts too.

It may or may not be close to you, but RCS (Racquet Club of the South) is a nice place. Everyone there is also super nice and remembers your name even after one day of being there. I enjoyed going there for a full week when I was in town as a non-member for hitting drills.

Agreed. I like to play when I want and if weather is not cooperating I like to have option of inside court!
I"m actually looking into joining James Creek just for this reason. The pricing isn't really that bad compared to Lifetime Tennis membership which is the only other indoor court area I know around here.
Midtown Athletic Club at Windy Hill (on Windy Hill Road) have indoor and outdoor courts.
I am not sure where you are coming from but indoor courts are not a necessity in Atlanta. I play on 2 teams in the winter and both play at outdoor facilities. "Winter" in Atlanta is basically only January and February. Even in Jan/Feb, you will get many good tennis days. It is going to be 70 degrees tomorrow. There will be the occasional artic blast that will push temps down into the 20-40 range for a week but these are rare. Worst case scenario is you might have a full week where it is too cold to play and this doesn't happen every year. You will get lots of days in the 40-60 range and outdoor tennis is fine.
This is a temporary benefit of global warning. With rising sea levels, Atlanta may be beach front too in another decade.
