No, I don't think that would be an overgeneralization at all.

(And / or equally insecure about their own appeal. It's easy to say "Yeah, he's worth nine figures; that's why women love him", but it's not about that at all. It's much more about the multiple reasons – business sense, athletic talent, work ethic, charisma -- why he's worth that much.)

If you post photos in it, it gets "un-buried". We've been shy of Rafa-shots lately for obviously reasons, but I've been meaning to post some new ones from the Golden Swing. And Roger looked crisp and wonderful today in his turquoise and white (though it's hard for me sometimes when the boys have a hard match in white shorts – that *is* very distracting from the actual tennis for me :p ) so by all means, feel free to post your recent favorite shots and revive the thread! :mrgreen:

Of course Federer doesn't look anywhere near what most guys in their late 30s look like. There is just extreme exaggeration in this thread. He hardly looks like he's aged a day since he was 25/26. Watch highlights from Wimbledon 2008 and Rotterdam 2013. He's looked like he was in his mid-to-late 20s since like 2006 and pretty much still looks that way.

If you want to talk about players looking much older than they are, look at guys like Davydenko and Agassi. Agassi in his late 20s looked at least mid 30s.

Slighty yes. I'm sure there are still lots of women in general (not just on this forum) who don't find Roger all that attractive. But I would say your generelization is more right than wrong.

Of course some women like Federer the man is worth over $100 million dollars probably more they would like him for his money.
Federer isn't attractive, he is extremely arrogant has a big nose and a snobby stuck up attitude. I'm a gay man and I can say Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are better looking to me than Federer. Nadal and Djokovic have a masculinity that Federer lacks. Federer comes across as extremely effeminate he's very emotional and very soft which is a turn off.Federer is also extremely hairy which is gross and another turn off.

Yeh i think many women fancy him, i'm a bloke and i dont think its wrong for me to say he's not a bad looking fellow, i'd be suprised if didn't have a large female fanbase.

What floats your boat doesn't speak for anyone else but you. Federer isn't attractive to you. That doesn't mean he isn't attractive. It's all a matter of opinion, nothing more. How do you explain someone like me who finds Novak, Rafa, and Roger all attractive? I even find Andy pretty good looking at times. Obviously everyone doesn't share the same tastes. That's a good thing :)

I am openly gay and I am not a homophobe, contrary to popular belief and myth of straight folks plenty of gay men are actually very masculine.

Effeminate gay guys are generally looked down on in the gay male community anyone who is gay would know this.

And Federer's effeminate nature is a turn off.

I am not a hater I am giving my personal opinion if you can't handle it that's your problem not mine.

Not whether he appeals to gay men.

I'm a woman and I find him very attractive as do many other (but obviously not all!) women.

Sure, it's not solely about the money. He is extremely successful and relatively famous, and living a life as an athlete. Even dirt poor indie musicians get hordes of groupies because they pursue a "cool", "alternative" lifestyle. I'm not saying Federer is ugly; he is probably average looking for a man his age (isolating his appearance alone without considering his success or style of play or any other factor), but his following is certainly not due to his appearance. He just fits into the evolutionary role that women are adapted to desire. Status usually supersedes appearance.

Ironically, that is how AM, a homosexual man, evaluates men. Actually, AM is the worst of both worlds combined into one. He calls top 20 players, who are a notch below Federer/Djokovic/Nadal "losers" (even though he is a total beta compared to them), and then goes around talking about their asses, personality, and faces in salacious ways.

That's how women treat themselves anyway, with a focus on appearance above everything else and they tend to pride themselves on being "sexy" and wearing revealing clothes.

Why do you think Federer is so effeminate, Nadal is the guy who is shy, soft spoken, and lacks body hair. Federer's big nose, hairy chest, and arrogant personality are masculine traits :)

lol Nadal might lack body hair, but he is not shy or soft spoken. Nadal is pretty much establishing his reputation as the most outspoken player on tour.

Also, I wouldn't say arrogant personality is just a masculine trait. Especially when you look at the atitudes of the players dominating the WTA currently. :D

Well I meant his manner when he speaks is shy and somewhat withdrawn while Federer is a lot more confident and "masculine" as AM would say, so I really don't know what he means when he says Federer is effeminate. Ok that man purse was bad but apart from that Federer is a pretty masculine guy, he is married and has 2 children for God's sake!

Who are these heterosexual women you know? My husband is a stay-at-home dad working on his teaching degree. I wanted a partner not a provider, and I'm happy to work for money for my family. So are most of the other women I know. It seems like a lot of the men on this board don't know a lot of real, everyday women. Instead they make generalizations based on characters women play on TV and in the movies.

women like broad shoulders and lean bodies. federer's shoulders are broader than most men his height (actually broader than the muscular murray! check out photos of them next to one another) and he is pretty fit. why is it a surprise that women feel attracted to him?

since when do women seek button nosed men? a strong nose is a masculine feature.

the next thing you guys are going to say federer doesn't have childbearing full hips!

That's true. People also tend to look older than their age when they are tired.
Also, looking young or old depends a lot on when the picture was taken, the lighting , hairstyle etc. For eg, Federer looks closer to 40 in these pictures from 3-4 years ago.

Federer seems more masculine than Nadal to me. In particular, he has a more masculine voice. Nadal still sounds like a boy who hasn't finished puberty when he talks.

One of the reasons why Nadal is not my favourite player is that he looks like a teenager who is about to have a tantrum when he is on the loosing end. I still think he is great though.
