How to add weight into handle?

How do you know how much silicone to add? If you want to add 15-20 grams, how to you know you're adding just that amount?

Hi Relinquis,

You should squirt a little at a time, and weigh as you go. But for planning purposes, just so you'll have some idea how deep to place your cotton balls, it's about 10-12 grams per every inch. Kind of depends on which brand of racquet, because interior shape & volume of the hairpins are slightly different, but that's about average. You can also finesse the final 2-3 grams to meet your desired aim point perfectly by shoving finishing nails, or lead fishing weights into the silicone before it dries.

Problem with silicon is that it's well nigh impossible to remove. I would go with the tried and true method of lead tape on the handle.

a ball of lead tape, or a sinker, wrapped in cotton so that it stays put in the very bottom near the butt cap, very easy to remove or add weight to.

Glue is pretty light, unless you mean stuffing the whole glue gun inside the handle.
Gold is easily melted, and weighs a lot.

To have less effect on the balance and to give the hoop more plowthru, wrap lead tape around the grip at a distance of 7" from the butt. I just use the 1/4" lead tape for this and I'm surprised at how much racquet head speed you pick up.

I'd just use lead tape for now. There's no need to use silicone if you're not 100% comfortable with the weight you're adding.

Stick cotton balls into handle, roll up the lead tape into 1/2 inch rectangles, wrap the lead tape into a cotton ball, then stick it in the handle.

I vote for Blue Tac. It's sold by weight so you know how much you're adding and it's easily removable. I've tried silicone and it's tricky to apply and impossible to easily remove.

Another option is rubberized tungsten weights used on golf clubs. Can be added on the outside butt cap. Available on golf galaxy web site.

Couple of quick questions.

What is the point of adding weight in the handle? Wouldn't you have to add the weight in the hoop to get better plowthrough?

I guess weight in the handle increases static weight and makes the frame more headlight, but does that have any actual effect on the ball or does it just alter the feel?

usually headlight feels better and makes the racquet more maneuverable...

when you add weight to the hoop to increase swing weight/plowthrough you will want to add weight to the handle (i.e. counterweight) to maintain the same balance or make it even more headlight/ maneuverable.

Anyone try to stuff a cylinder of the memory foam in there? I have a memory foam pillow and that is pretty hefty. It might be a good vibration damper as well and since it's very pliable it should be easy to remove.
