Good game 1, clean basketball from both teams. Good plays, good basketball.

Great spin move by Parker. This a tight game and after being behind slightly for most of the game, Spurs now have a 3 point lead with approx. 6 mins remaining. Let's see if James and Wade start to try and take matters more into their own hands and defer less on offence. The spurs have been cool calm and collected, focused and have executed well, as has the Heat. Also, both teams have given away very few turnovers in this game.

The officiating has been good in this game, very few obvious bad calls and they've let the teams play.

The Heat unwilling to commit to penetration, the Spurs have been hustling harder than Heat towards the close of the fourth and have defended excellently.

Hmm, very close. I would give him the basket because I like to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker.

Spurs draw first blood 92 - 88. They were just a little better and more sure in their tactics on offence than the Heat. Time to relax until the RG semis now.

The Spurs have laid down the gauntlet.

****. Tough loss. Luckiest shot I've seen go down in a while.

Yeah well D-Wade got away with a charge and a travel early in the game, so it evens out, if that.

Lucky or not, with the shot clock winding down, the Heat players could have doubled and trapped Parker on a dead dribble, but nope.

Whoopie. Splitter got away with an over the back. And comparing a shot that iced the game and a so called charge is completely different. Can't even remember the charge you're talking bout so it must of been really relevant.

No it was a lucky shot as someone else said, right? I mean I agree with you, but someone said it was just a lucky shot...

Yeah, there was all kinds of luck going on. He nearly lost his dribble a couple of times, he fell over etc.. It could of gone wrong at any time, but somehow he kept it alive and made an incredible shot.

He pulled of an amazing move a few minutes before too. I know Paul was voted to the first team, but Parker has been the best PG for me this year.

The Heat have themselves to blame on that one. Shot clock winding down, someone has a dead dribble, yet no one thought about doubling and trapping him. LeBron did what he could on the spot. But come on, when a guy has a dead dribble, you go and trap the guy.

As far as the shot itself, after pump-faking LeBron, Parker had a decent look at the basket.

Yeah, it was the timing that made it something special for me. The last seconds of a tight game in the finals and all that. Also the way he started the motion from his knees before kind of going up and under LeBron, he was off balance too.

Of course i'm biased, but if something gets me out my seat at 4am, it has to be something a bit out of the ordinary :)

that was a fun game to watch last night. and it came down to a couple possessions and most likely an extremely lucky/good shot by parker. i believe you create your own luck and he definitely did that.

i hope it goes 7 and all the games are as fun to watch.

Another great half. Miami up by 5 with spurs hot from 3, like that. Miami is getting great looks. Feel better about this series than the pacers. Watching the pacers series I always felt the heat were down by 3.

We shall see if you can win an entire series in less than half of a quarter...that run has to be demoralizing the Spurs for a while. Pops will have to be at his best to bring them back in the mindset they will need to maintain if they are to compete in Game 3 and beyond.

I was amazed they kept it close for so long, the Spurs kept of missing anything around the basket it seemed. You're allowed one bad game a series I suppose, if they get back to doing what they do best they can still go back to Miami with a lead I think.

Well, I'm sure most of us are happy here that the series is tied at 1-1. A blow-out in the Championship Finals would be a disappointing spectacle. Now it really is game on.

when the heat play defense like last night and game 7 of the indiana series, they look like they should win every game.

too bad that crazy swarming defense is just so physically exhausting. i don't think they've been able to play that way for 2 games straight this postseason. if they can play that way for 3 more games - they win the championship. if not, san antonio wins one for the the thumb.

either way, some amazing basketball. remember we could've gotten memphis/indiana finals which would've been pretty god awful.

Maybe the Heat are having to play more outside of themselves to get wins and won't have the gas to win the series. They'll be playing on Spur's home court now for 3 straight games, so it's going to be an extremely gruelling test for them physically, mentally and emotionally. I'll go as far as to say that the winner of game 3 will win the Championships.

What is going on with teams and coaches?

  • Del Negro leads the Clippers to their 1st division title and their best ever year.... CANNED!
  • Hollins leads the Grizzlies to their best ever season and their best playoff run... CANNED!
  • Carlesimo righted the ship and got the Nets to the playoffs... CANNED!

I think we'll see a few more heads rolling.

Did you just start following the nba this season? Every nba coach knows they're expendable, and none expect to be 'tenured' in any sense of the word. Job security is non-existent.

Most owners are not knowledgeable at all, and many GM's are surprisingly inept in their decision making as well. Hope springs eternal as every franchise hopes that they can find the elusive coach/players synergy which can vault them over the rest of the competition. 29 out of 30 teams every year are unsuccessful in getting their team to the title, but that doesn't prevent them from trying.

Del Negro got screwed because he had a flawed roster but I think he got the most of those guys. I don't care how your team is built, every once in a while, you're going to have to play in the half-court set.

Hollins may have been canned because they got swept by the Spurs. But I disagree with his removal as Grizzlies' head coach.

Carlesimo, I think he just didn't want to deal with a bunch of people who played with no heart. It was fun and games as an assistant coach, but if he had to be front and center of that crap? He probably had enough.

That's just dumb. The clippers were loaded, and couldn't get out of the first round of the playoffs.

I thought Hollins did a great job also.

Carlesimo was not signed to a new deal. He didn't quit.

Do you even read your own posts?

I think it's "The Big Fundamental".

I like Parker, but I swear he took four steps on that spin move.

Again, did you just start watching the nba yesterday? Traveling is almost never called. Lebron travels on literally every other drive, but almost never gets called. He might get called for traveling 1% of the time he actually travels.

Not to mention Karl's departure in Denver! Wasn't he named Coach of the Year?

The Clippers were "loaded" to play run and gun, which is why I said they had a flawed roster. They couldn't play in the half-court set which is why they struggle when the game slows down come Playoffs time. Do you even watch basketball? Or do you just rehash news articles. If your definition of a "loaded" team is having big marketable names, remind me what happened to the Lakers again?

A "loaded" team don't end up as a the 4th seed in their conference.

Stop coming in here, trying to insult people with "did you just watch NBA yesterday" crap. Yes, everyone does travel once in a while, even LeBron. But he does not travel on "every other drive."

They had CHRIS PAUL ffs. You don't even need a coach to run half court sets with chris paul at the point. He's the best floor general in the game.

They were beaten by a big, rugged, physical team in the grizzlies. It happens. The west is tough. I don't think del negro is a great coach, but mgmt obviously believes they can do better. There's nothing to criticize here. The clippers want to see if they can get better results with a new/different head coach.

There's no need to hold a pity party for del negro and p.j. They are paid millions of dollars to coach a silly game. Most people on the planet actually do something of significance and barely survive.

Oh ok, yeah they had CHRIS PAUL. OOOOOOHHHHH DAYUM 30 and 10 from one guy is going to scare a lot of teams. Teams will (and have) let Chris Paul get his shots, but shut everyone down. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on him being the best general on the court today, but Mike Conley outplayed him in the series and the Grizzlies just shut everyone down. Oh sure, they'll let a few of Crawford's ill-advised fadaways go in, not like it's going to win the series. The Clippers sure were "loaded" when the 2 other guys making the most money can't even stay on the floor because of:
- Foul troubles because they can't play defense.
- Offensive liability, throw the ball to them and they eat clock.
- If their games are on, people can just foul them because they can't shoot free throws.

D-Wade was Miami's "Chris Paul", after Shaq left, they did real well before LeBron/Bosh came around, right? Kobe was the league's best player in those post-Shaq days, the Lakers sure went far before Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum came around right?

Chicago and Indiana don't have any "Chris Paul" on their teams, and they did pretty well for themselves right? Don't give me none of that "weak conference" nonsense. Chicago was a walking hospital and took out a "loaded" Brooklyn Nets with heart and defense. And Indiana gave the defending champs all they could handle.

What about the Spurs? They have an aging big 3, but they sure "loaded" themselves with a bunch of D-Leaguers. Wait, half of their team is composed of D-Leaguers, don't qualified as being "loaded". What business do they have taking home court advantage away from the defending champions?
