Predictions for N American hard court swing.

The heat and humidity have settled in on the east coast. This will be hard for any player to dominate. Additionally, the hurricane season is predicted to be active, which could again cause impacts to USO.

Watch for players to request evening matches, in particular Novak. I imagine he has 2 goals, Cincy and USO.

It should help Roger's back, but even the heat can't fix a back issue if he can't get it healed.

Rafa will sweat buckets and like playing in the sun. Not as much as he does if it were clay. Should his fitness be off, expect a lousy hard court swing. Who knows goals are regarding the hard court swing.

I'm not sure how much Andy trains in the heat in Miami, but I think the heat will favor him more than the others.

I tend to wonder about the up and comers like Jerzy, who have played more than previous years and whether the number of matches may catch up with them. It will also be interesting to see if Gulbis brings it during the hard courts, given his new attitude this year or if he achieved his rankings goal and is back to partying.

I think the hard courts are going to be harder due to the heat and humidity that has settled in.

Federer to win the USO defeating Stakhovsky in the final to mark the beginning of a new legendary tennis rivalry. The Fedsky era.

This time of the year makes me think of Mardy Fish as he had done very well the past few years. He was making strides as a top 10 player when he was cut short by illness/heart problems ETC. I read that he plans on making a return soon, but time will tell the real story as it unfolds. Good luck Mardy.

Cvac will win everything like he usually does.

If things turned out the way you predicted, oh wise sage Clarkydamus, Novak would be sitting on 12 slams right now and Ralph static at 9, but it seems your black magic is working so congrats and keep up the good work.

It's gonna be Murray, delpo or Novak I think all three are playing fantastic and by the time the us open coes around they will be fully ready.

Murray will win one and lose in an early round in one, hopefully he defends Flushing and is also victorious at Cincy.

Yes, just like he won Wimbledon and the FO this year right? Djokovic has not been winning everything. I don't know why you keep on with that silly premise.

There are probably three players who can win the USO: Murray, Djokovic or Nadal. Anybody else would be a huge surprise.

I wouldn't be surprised if DelPo won USO.

in my opinion,
Nadal to reach SF at Rogers Cup, but skip cincy and reaches SF of US OPEN.

Federer to reach a final of cincy and wins the US OPEN.

Murray to win Rogers CUP, but loses early at cincy, and reaches SF at US OPEN

Djokovic to reach SF at Rogers cup, win Cincy but loses to Federer at US OPEN final

outside of top 4, Raonic to make it to the final at the Rogers Cup, SF at Cincy and QF at USOPEN.

Del Potro to reach SF of cincy and USOPEN.

so overall,

Rogers cup: win (murray), R-up (Raonic), SF (Nadal, Djokovic)

cincy: win (Djokovic), R-up (Federer), SF (DelPo, and someone else)

US OPEN: win (Federer), R-up (Djokovic), SF (Murray, Nadal)

I'm rooting for Federer, Del Potro, and Jerzy to sweep the hard court season.

Probable outcome:
Toronto: Djokovic/Murray
Cincinatti: Federer/Djokovic/Del Potro
US Open: It's a 4 way tie between Federer, Djokovic, Del Potro, and Murray.

LOL, Federer is not winning jack squat the way he has been playing. The bookies will have Murray, Djokovic and Nadal as the favorites. Del Potro will not be a favorite.

I'd be really curious to know why you (or anyone else, really) wouldn't put Delpo as a bookie's favorite. He's one it before and has shown tremendous form of late.

Because he has not won a slam since the USO 2009 and he is very inconsistent. He plays one or two great matches and then ultimately fades out.
He will not be favored above Murray, Djokovic and Nadal by the bookies to win the USO unless he sweeps the hc tune-ups prior to the USO.

1. He has been playing amazing throughout Wimbledon and will probably maintain this level of form until the US Open. His last hardcourt tournament was at Miami and took Nadal to 3 sets after taking out Djokovic, who basically owns slow hardcourt surfaces like this one.

2. Nadal is not a favorite to win this years US Open, Murray and Djokovic will probably be the only ones on the list.

3. You don't have to sweep the Hardcourt tune ups to win the US Open...

Did Del Potro win the event (Wimbledon?) Maintaining form and actually winning a major are two different things.

Murray and Djokovic will be first and second favorites but Nadal will likely be the third favorite for bookies and Del Potro number four unless Del Potro can actually win a bunch of the hc tune-ups prior to the USO. No bookie is going to make Del Potro a favorite over Nadal at any slam.

Canadian Open 2013 Champion : Nadal
Cincinnati Masters 1000 : Murray
US OPEN 2013 Champion : Nadal

Obviously, my predictions are based solely on wishful thinking

Not in your wildest dream is RFederer winning the USO. He is losing to guys who are ranked 100+ in slams and 500 tournaments. If anything, either beating any of the top 3 or reaching the QF would surprise me given his ridiculous form.

So, I am taking NDjokovic/RNadal for Roger's Cup, AMurray for Cincinnati and any of the top three for USO (too hard to predict).

Djoko and Murray are gonna split the masters 1000 while Rafa is taking USO, believe me.

Why do you believe this? I'm curious. I'd like to see him win it, but currently consider the clay court swing as a chance for a rested player, if his knee holds out.
