Not for long fortunately.

Chico now has a dilemma: he has to remain royal to Djokovic by saying he's #1 when he's actually not. But at the same time, if he doesn't change his signature, he just proves his trollness to people although many already know this by now and have called him a troll many times already.

So what do you choose? :)

lets see how he goes defending it next year.

Does it matter? He's there now and has added a VERY important year worth of titles and accomplishments to his career. We should start looking at his career like everything from here on is icing on the cake instead of holding him to standards we all know he isn't going to repeat. He'll should #1 for a while, I doubt he's thinking about 2014.

This just confirms what the US Open result already illustrated; that Nadal is the best player in the world right now.

Snatching a WTF title this year would put a huge stamp of authority on his world #1 status.

for some reason, i think nadal prefers to be no. 2 spot, i think he won more slams and titles as no. 2 than as no. 1. Can someone verify that?

Nadals #1 will be short lived, just like Feds #1 in 2012

Well technically Djokovic could get it back pretty quickly around Paris...but Nadal has to blow it pretty badly to not finish #1.

Sorry but you are delusional.

1. Change your signature. Novak will not be #1 again, at least not for another 8-10 months.

2. Rafa Nadal is a 13 time slam winner. Has 7 more slams than Novak Djokovic's 6 in his entire career.

3. Nadal is the better player and rightly deserves to be ranked ahead of Djokovic.

Thank You

How is that possible? He is 3000+ points ahead of Nole in the race right now. That is a huge lead.

Nadal is going to be #1 for a long time. Nole has got to start beating him like he did in 2011 if he wants to take the #1 away. That, or Rafa's knees giving out (which I hope does not happen).

With nothing but points to gain from now until Feb, including a potential 3500 from the AO and WTF, which will also cause Djokovic to fall further back...Nadal is in a good place.

Have to say, rightfully deserved.

I agree. Nadal missed AO and practically 0 points to defend in Wimbldon next year so he can gain max 4000 points there. Also he can gain by entering Miami masters and win Monter Carlo again. So he needs to play well in clay season and he hill be pretty safe at No.1.

You mean Federer winning his 1st FO!!

no he means rafa holding the all time record for total weeks spent at number two behind some guy he dominates head to head. why number two? because he couldn't overtake federer while federer still had an ounce of bounce left in his step. rafa owns federer who relegates rafa to the distinction no all time great would ever really want to have attached to their resume, "this guy was consistently the number two-ranked player in the world" Really Grandpa? Who was number 1?

Recall how in doubt his career was after the loss to Rosol.

This has to be one the greatest comebacks from an extended time-off in tennis history.
