Roger Federer's new racquet for 2014?

Roger seems to have started the first match in 2014 with a new racquet, bigger head size than 90; probably 98 or 95. Anyone knows what it is? A new line from Wilson or an existing model?

Yes; I guess; they found a couple of the Prostaff 6.0 95s and blacken them out for Roger to play with. It would not be too much for Wilson to bring back the mold and re-issue it back into the marketplace and Roger would play with a custom version of this racquet! LOL!

^Not the same mould as the 6.0s because the throat is different. The same way his 90in² isn't from a 6.0 mould: different throat shape. However Dolgopolov does play with a racquet coming from the 6.0 95 mould but with a "Spin Effect Technology" string pattern: 18/16 for the Ukrainian.

The first 90 they've issued that Federer won't be using. I wonder how they will sell if he never uses it?

Slap on Federer's name on it and say "Endorsed by Roger Federer" in the description. Plus, the people who still use midsize racquets will also buy them.

There's a photo on one of the Fed threads that shows the racquet is using PWS, so it could likely be a custom stock of either the Pro Staff Classic 6.1 or current 6.1 line.

Federer is playing with a completely new racquet. If you would like to have the option to buy that racquet, rather than something vaguely similar with his signature decaled onto it, a letter to Wilson might help.

Could be really similar.
Except that no. Because Monfils is using a H19 or H22 IIRC and not a Blade, and because Federer's frame has PWS. Federer tried something similar to the Blade/H moulds last summer. And the frame he has now isn't the same: six string bridge instead of eight (like on Blades/H moulds frames), presence of PWS.

Seriously, check this thread. Entirely. There are pictures (especially in the latter pages) and posts that will avoid such wild mass guesses. It's not impossible that Wilson dug an old mould they had in stock. But since an infinity of racquets can be made from the same mould, just saying that it's mould X alone is pretty moot.

Well since Head killed off the prestige mid, I think that the market of current players using midsize racquets will go for the new 90... but otherwise it might be limited in terms of market. If Federer sticks with the new larger frame Wilson would be foolish not to capitalize on his marketability, so I imagine we would see a retail version hit the shelves.

I am guessing that his new racquet is the 2014 Pro Staff 95 with some added weight. Looking at the new images, string pattern looks the same: 16x19, and the same number of mains at the throat: 6.

I wonder if he will get more purchase on his shots now.....and maybe some increased spin coupled with less shanks
