tlm has no chance against me. He posts videos playing against a guy who gives him nice easy balls in the same place with no spin. He needs to come down here and get a sense of what it takes.

I think my opinion on 'no chance' has changed now. But by the same token yes, I don't think tlm realizes that he couldn't handle Cheetah's heavy balls.

My $$$'s on tlm.

Sureshs, you seem pretty steady on balls you don't have to move for, but if you have to move more than 1 step, your shot completely breaks down. You could win at 3.5 level but not making errors, but you also have to be able to move and last for rallies to win that way. I can't see you doing that. Sorry, commenting on what I'm seeing.

Thanks for uploading video guys...always good to see other TW members hitting.

+1.

Seeing that video, tlm would be serving up breadsticks. However, it all depends on how tlm performs against dinkers and pace-eaters. If tlm can't generate his own pace and turns into an unforced error machine, then he probably would still win, but it would be something like 6-4, 6-4.

Having watched both videos and just for fun, I would agree :)

I say Suresh wins against tlm 2 and 2. Suresh's shots may not look pretty, but he knows how to play the game. I haven't seen tlm play any games, just nice easy rally shots.

Surehs can just yell Smart Targets all day and beat anyone besides prime NadaLeeD, Cheetarer, and a focused Linkovic.

I've now seen two of TTW's GOATS. The lefty serve of LeeD and the put your shoulder into it and use more oomph serve of sureshs.

The build up for this video wasn't as great as for LeeD, but it was still impressive.

The ultimate TTW video would be sureshs playing LeeD for TTW GOATness. Someone needs to make that happen.

Now we just need video of Bud and BreakPoint and all of TT's most legendary posters will have been unmasked.

This x 1000!

It should be a requirement for going beyond 10,000 posts that you have to post a video.

To Sureshs, I'm sure you could care less but you are out of my Ignore list because of your courage to post this video. In the future every time I roll my eyes when reading something you've posted I'll just think remember your video and smile.

Sureshs vs LeeD semi and Cheetarer vs Linkovic semi.

I think LeeD and Sureshs would be awesome.

Cheetah vs. Maximagq (you)? Not so interesting, IMHO. I think you would serve Cheetah a double bagel or close to it -- unless you treated him as a charity case. I don't think anybody likes to watch a completely lopsided match.

I'd rather see Cheetah vs. tlm. Based on the video footage and playing styles, I actually think the style matchup would be interesting.

Really? Cheetah looks like he could be 5.0 to me, at least based on his forehand. Haven't seen all that many backhands and no serves yet. We don't know what his movement is like either, but that forehand looks nasty! Super heavy and with good pace too.

I didn't think so last week, but now I think this would be a closer match. After seeing how many errors Cheetah made off of Sureshs's no pace shots and serves, he might struggle against tlm.

No way.

Matt Lin is a true bona-fide NTRP 5.0. Go watch his matches -- I already have. To beat that level of a player, you have to have incredible movement, the ability to hit killer shots off the run on both wings.

Seriously. Go watch Matt's video. Then go watch Cheetah's videos. Cheetah competing at NTRP 5.0 is not happening.

I would need to see Cheetah's actual match play against a computer-rated NTRP 4.5 player to give a decent estimate... but I feel very confident he isn't 5.0. Not based on the college recruits I have seen live and on video.

I have seen Matt's videos too, and while I think he is the better player, his camera angle is much better than Cheetah's as well. No player is going to look amazing when the camera is 10 feet in the air. Cheetah is also just ****ing around with suresh in this new video, just trying to get him to hit as many balls as possible. Like I said, we don't know what Cheetah's movement or serves are like from his videos but his forehand technique could definitely be 5.0 IMO. If the rest of his game is up to that standard, then I don't see what the problem is. I've seen 5.0 players with clearly worse forehands than that.

Rick you are approaching "must post a video" status.

I want to. I've just been lazy. But even when I do post a video... I've always been clear that I'm a low computer-rated 4.0. So if people are wanting to compare my video against what they think a low-4.0 would be... I'm pretty sure people would find it in line.

I can't beat high 4.0s. I get bageled easily by 4.5s. And playing against Matt... he would be playing a totally different game than me. I've never made claims or suggestions otherwise. So the worst I would get would be "work on fitness", "move better", "work on your backhand".

The reason why others want to see these other people's videos is because of the incredible build-up of their level of play. I have no such build-up. I've always owned up to mediocrity of my level of play.

I was kidding. tlm can easily beat me. And I am not talking heavy-weight wrestling. His FH is all hitchy but there is raw brute force power behind it.

In fact, I play every Friday night against a "Nadal" who is currently playing 4.0 WTT. He had posted on craigslist years ago claiming to be someone who can get to every ball, and he wasn't kidding. He can also hit Smart Targets all the time. So I run ragged against him every time. The difference is that I do get to most of his balls, and 50% of the time, I have a chance of winning the point after that. Regarding cheetah, I have given up running. It doesn't do anything for me when the ball is unreachable or unplayable. I have no sense of being even partially in control at any time.

Sureshs, don't sell yourself short. You can beat him. Tlm has an extreme western grip from what I can tell. Just serve out wide and hit sharp cross court to his forehand and watch him hit down the line every time. Then, cover the down the line and just hit to the open court :) You can do it!

Not looking for approval/analysis/recommendations from posters here. I play tennis for fun and have no grandiose plans to go professional at 46

I play 3-4 times per week at Balboa Tennis Club in San Diego.

I've played with at least 10 people who post regularly here on TT - so, they can give you an opinion on my game.

Always open to hitting with others who are local or visiting SD.

I was told it was Saturday not Sunday and I played with the Harvard guy who did show up on Saturday and I also played with RKelly later that day. I already explained that to you, twice. I'll come to balboa if you want. I used to hit there all the time.

I don't care, at all, if anyone doesn't like the editing. What I did was import the vid, look at the sound track that had continuous sound in it, stitched those together real quick, snipped out the seemingly quiet parts, removed rallies that were one shot, went over it once to get rid of conversation and profanities and removed shots where the ball flew over the fence and such. If you guys want a video of misses and picking up balls and shanks and what have you put your own vid up.
That's the way we play. Rkelly and I don't play sets w/ each other. Usually we play harder and more competitively. We were only hitting a few back and forth for video's sake. Usually it's one or 1 or 2 balls over and then it's a free for all.

I recorded suresh and i hitting earlier. It's uploading now. Looks like it's gona take a while.

Better go recheck that. I've not corresponded with you or chatted with you since the original email stream. When Sureshs had you on the phone while I was standing there listening, you knew the day we were playing - but were too tired to make it. There was no mix up on Saturday vs Sunday unless it was you who mixed it up. If you make plans, follow through with them regardless of how tired you are. It was fun hitting with Suresh and RK but I traveled up there because I wanted to play a few sets of doubles.

That's water under the bridge now ;)

You're welcome to hit me up if you want to play at Balboa - especially on Saturday morning when the 4'5+ doubles challenge court is going strong. Is your doubles level at least 4.5?

Good to see your video, Suresh. You, I, and others here will always have lots of things to improve. None of us are banking on having ATP points - so remember, it is the process that counts and not any specific state of your game, and enjoy tennis! All the best.

at this point, I wonder.....

all the innocent beginners out there like me, who have taken advice from Suresh, (and from Cheetah to a lesser degree for this argument)..... what are they thinking now?

You don't have to a great tennis player to offer competent advice, especially if it's of a general nature.

But if you're taking footwork lessons from Sureshs, well......

No, you better go recheck that. Everytime suresh talks about meeting in San Diego you mention it and then I have to again tell you why I didn't come and every time you say "oh ok no problem".
Actually I was wrong, i didn't tell you twice... It was three times. Now this makes four.
But that's all water under the bridge now. ... until you bring it up again.

Sure. Can you accurately keep score or do you repeatedly forget the previous 2 points and/or set score?

at least he showed his playing level in a video.
respect to him especially after all this time of posting.
and besides, he might have a lot of theoretical knowledge.
i'm playing better than him, but have far less info to share.
so what?

Well sue them then.. in the USA, the craziest of claims have been sustained. Probably a collective action will be even more effective. So you are on the right track..

Strange. Why do you feel violated?

I don't care what people say so I'm going to continue to film myself and post to my channel. I like it as I can see the areas I need to work on. You don't have to watch them.

I think all that's left now is for 5263 to post a video showing his form that has enabled him to go 'undefeated for years in a high level league'.

Yeah, that LeeD fella......
Since last Wed, my tennis has been total crap. Can't find my return of serves with 1hbh topspin, lost my twist entirely, and seemingly blind against some heavy topspin shots.
Today, playing with my 4.0 bud who just had double rotator cuff surgery, so he can't serve at all, or hit overheads, or hit high volleys, we split sets with a weak serving groundstroker and his 4.5 level volleying partner, an ex A/Open player from the '80's. He looks 20 years older than me, but is 7 younger.
Strange, had a bad Friday, a horrid Sat., then a bad today, 3 days in a row at barely mid 4.0 doubles levels.
Guess the coffin is just a few days away.
Problem could be, I've windsurfed Thursday, Friday, Sat., and Sun in strong winds, 18-28 mph, and using overly big sails, a 5.8-6.5, for my small stature of 5'10" and 150 lbs., so my legs are shot from the get go.

Suresh, I didn't mean to ignore you.
You should contact Shroud or PapaMango (who's on the travel section for looking for player's in Pleasanton Ca.) about my level of play.
Honestly, Cheetah and I would be a very close match. I used that first word because Sarah Bareillis's song "Honestly" is playing right now.
