Pro: Tennis is, let's face it, boring. Only reason I watch is Federer or a good final. I noticed when I heard about it, I looked up everything, from the comment, to Wawrinka's response, to Ryan Harrison and what he said. It's sad, but controversy sells. Doe anyone ever really listen to press conference of Fed, Rafa, Novak or Murray? You know exactly what they are going to say, it's scripted, "well he played good, I feel confident at this point, it could have gone the other way", same thing, every time. However listening to Krygios and some others is interesting, like Roddick's interviews.
Con: Tennis has cleaned so much, that it doesn't need bad role models. If I were Wawrinka I would have knocked Krygios out and just took the fine, what he said was disgusting. Tennis can be interesting without outright scandalous trash talk, watching some arrogant kids spewing out low grade trash. I think the perfect medium would be if the pro's got off their script, not be rude, but HONEST, "Look I'm playing so great right now no way Murray stands a chance", it's honest, interesting, and let's be honest, once Fed is gone Tennis will lose a HUGE audience.
