Bench Press

Just benched 850 lbs for 1 rep. I had 7 powerlifters spotting for me. For some reason they were grunting and growling very loudly during my 1 rep max.

Were they screaming "ITS ALL YOU BRO ALL YOU"
Yes. It was all me. The extra 14 hands were gripping the bar with straps just for safety.

But the next day I came to the gym, they all ran and hid when I walked toward the bench.

To get me motivated for a new PR, I'm thinking of bringing in a boombox to the gym and blasting some AC/DC.

You didn't look at the article. Run the equations in the article (which are for natural lifters) and you will see that you are more than elite in the world of natural powerlifting. Not an all time world champion, but certainly quite elite.

Why not post a video of your lift? I'm sure you could put up 465 again in a week or two.

Well that was a few years ago. Plus I am no longer bulked at 230. I am 200 and can put up 390 with a few workouts. Been riding my mtn bike every day. Just raced this past weekend 50 miler and got forth place single speed. Just doing reps with 50 lb dumbells squatting chest press laying on the floor, bent over rows, deadlits and straight leg deadlifts that's it. I have no gym membership so no power cage to max out with.

Sounds like there are a lot of super strong people posting.

Curious if any of you can do bodyweight strength exercises like handstand shoulder presses, 1 leg pistol squats, 1-arm pushups, etc.

Based on the strength numbers being posted I would image some of you could do about 100 1-arm pushups and about 50-70 chinups.

I can do 1 hand pushups and I was able to do pistol squats, but have to practice them again. Really loved bulgarian split squats too with a lot of weight.
But I'm too fragile and too fat for stuff like handstand pushups or a lot of chinups (265lbs). Squats, benches and deadlifts don't really translate into stuff like this.

135 lbs 5'8" here. Pr bench are 172.4 lbs, deads is 225x12 times! (ran out of plates), and squat is 205x12.
I am 4 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier than you but you are stronger than me!
I only squatted 195.5x8, benched 176x4, plus chinup with bodyweight +22lbs x6

Thank you for that insightful post. It contributed so much to this thread. I am now more enlightened on the bench press. Godspeed

Not nearly as insightful as you bragging about the number of plates you pull on a tennis website.

Itp posting how much you lift in a how much you lift thread is bragging

Itp dman is superior to everyone else because he doesn't max and never will and feels the need to brag about it in a how much you lift thread

Yes, that is exactly what my point was. Trying to keep younger people aware of potential for injury is "bragging", while harping upon how many plates you pull in the same breath as hurting yourself doing it is "insightful". The dumbassbackwards world of T1000.

Now you're going to argue over the semantics of what lift it was that injured you, as if that makes any fundamental difference.

Let me explain it clearly and concisely since you want to make this a pissing contest which is not where I'm coming from:

You are a major advocate for heavy weightlifting.....on a tennis website....I cautioned some people against it as did some other posters. You called us names implying we were old wimps. My feelings were hurt. Boo hoo.

It turns out you injured yourself lifting heavy, and unfortunately since you called names first, I pointed the hypocrisy of that out. And you aren't even 30 yet right?

That's the crux of your axe to grind. Get over it. My main concern is that younger people don't get hurt and continue to enjoy playing TENNIS for many years. Taking shots at your overinflated ego is only of minor enjoyment, and one I will gladly cease if you take the first step of not replying to my posts in such a hostile/douchey manner.

the irony of you saying someone else has an overinflated ego 45 years old and can't admit you are wrong.

You said deadlifting not me you're wrong but can't admit it

I said basic strength training is beneficial to athletes never advocated for any athlete to train like a powerlifter

You tried to tell everyone heavy lifting is evil and it's the lift's fault you got hurt because of a one time occurrence that most likely happened because your form sucked but you can't admit that since your ego is 100x bigger than my overinflated one

I have never once bragged about my squat but ok keep making **** up

Stop spreading lies about lifting because your form sucked. You can blow your acl out making a sharp cut playing tennis, guess tennis is bad right? Just admit you were wrong 45 years old and still acting like a child

I can do one arm pushups and pistol squats. I haven't trained handstands mainly because I'm scared of falling over.

IDK yet. Looking at dbol, tbol, var, test, tren, deca, and halotestin. Done a lot of research on these and deciding this week what I'm gonna use, if I start now.

I guess your memory isn't too good. Who's the old guy here? Researching PED's is very "classy". Trying to decide what steroids to take so you can get into MMA or pro wrestling? I'm guessing your bedroom at your parents house is still waiting for you.

Wow

Lol

all this anger because I said your form or programming probably had more to do with the injury than the exercise.

The exercise isn't the issue. Programming or form is. You're wrong get over it.

Anger? Who responded to whom first on this thread, junior? I'm not sure what I'm "wrong" about exactly, I think you somehow think it's clever to keep saying that as if it has any impact on the fact that you:

1) rave about heavy lifting on a tennis website, said lifting which causes you to need hip surgery...that's great for a kids tennis game
2) talked openly about using illegal steroids in your quest to be more bro-tastic

There certainly is a lot of "wrong" going on here, kid.

Take it to t-nation or bodybuilding .com and spread your stupid over there with the other meatheads.
