I watched Opelka's match in the Estoril Open yesterday. His serves are unreturnable even on clay. With Nadal on the decline and Federer lacking match practice and Djokovic having personal issues, Opelka is the favorite for RG.

it's just an issue of inertia. a tall guy is heavier, longer limbed, can't change direction the way a lighter guy can. so the huge serve bots are never going to be the dominant body type.

I'm not sure if it is a visual illusion caused by not much space behind the baseline, but GOATfils return position looked close to the most defensive I have ever seen. At one stage his hip was touching the time-clock.

Right. But big serve and reach don't compensate for movement. See it time and time again. Raonic Isner Karlovic. All-time servers but can't hang with the great movers and break into the elite. Wingspan can also be a negative, easier to get jammed to the body.
