Favourite string to weave?

Finished my 250th frame today.

I'm still really enjoying stringing.

Which made me think about my fav string to weave.

I concluded that it is Gosen Og-Sheep Proform Tuff.

Flexible yet slippery, but also firm enough to get through shared holes etc [emoji106]

Any synthetic gut is my fav string to weave because of its flexibility. However....Solinco Barb Wire is an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Bigstyle. I also bought a reel of Pros Pro Devil Spin recently. That stuff is horrendous.

synthetic gut is my favorite,
both you guys above mentioned some of my least favorites,, but I also hated stringing head.gravity strings!!, the triangular string just did a number on my fingers when weaving/fanning the crosses, ouchh

Pretty much any twisted, texture strings are nightmare for us stringers to deal with. The amount of spin for those type of strings are often short lived and goes rather dull. Not to mention the fact it will damage the grommets if you weave it too fast.

Ashaway Dynamite Soft. Very little coil memory, flexible but stiff enough to force through shared holes, easy to knot. Easy on the fingers. The stuff almost strings itself.

RPM in 16g or thinner. Super slick but also fairly tough so I don't lose the tail. I string so much poly that I don't actually enjoy stringing synguts or multis because of how flimsy they are when handling.

Head Velocity. It's pretty slippery and more pliable than s-gut. It's the worse string to try to get through blocked holes though. And I have to clean the grippers more regularly because of the coating.

Favorite - anything that is not shaped

least favorite - anything shaped, especially Barb Wire due to a singular event. Had a men's team from California (cant remember the University) that all played Barb Wire. First day here they gave me 14 or 15 racquets and half were 18x20s. Next day they gave me 8 or 9 more. By the time they left the string had cut through the calluses on my finger tips. I had a hard time stringing for a little over a week after that.

Same experience with me too. She gave me 4 different solinco string sets for me to string for her for all 4 of her rackets (Tour Bite, Tour Bite Soft, Bard Wire, Revelation). I strung the Barb Wire as the last one as I knew it was horrendous to work with. She tried all 4 and ends up liking the Barb Wire the most as she got more spin from it. The coil memory of it is also horrible too as you would have to work with it to keep it in order. It totally put some wears to my finger tip and couldnt weave as well for couple of days.

Luxilon 4GS in a Prestige Mid (18x20). Nightmares.

Not a big fan of stringing shaped polys, either.

Love stringing nylon synthetic gut...almost feels like cheating (compared to poly).

Like others, any synthetic gut.

Worst - the old Gamma TNT2 Ruff. That stuff was brutal to string, impossible to slip thru shared holes.

I just strung up a racquet with 4GS last night and it surprised me how soft it is when dealing with a shared grommet especially as I string 4G all the time without issues. I too have had issues with shaped poly like Cyclone and how sharp it is.

Synthetic gut is such a joy to string when I encounter it.

agreed, I remember that one; fanning was crazy,, all that krakle-n-pop sound from fanning and rubbing on the strings/grommets, haaa

I now string hybrids with synthetic gut crosses. What a joy!!!

So much, that any poly mains are ok as mains are so easy to string

I am not a fan of the oily synthetics, like gamma.livewire and such
not only do I feel the oil/lube on my hands, I know the clamps and the grips on my machine will need a good cleaning after
Agreed. (Velocity black is a nightmare for me for this reason!) But the polys don't have this issue for me, though. Not really sure why.
