$15/ gallon table red Cab Sauv at Whole Foods (Three Wishes label). Best deal in town!
Based on your advice we splurged on a 750ml bottle for 3 dollars.
Some might say it lacks the depth and complexity of a Chateau Lafite Rothschild, but never having had one of those...
I thought it went fine with our turkey, green beans and potatoes.

When WF is either closed or inconvenient, my other “splurge” is $5 per 750ml of Cab Sauv from Beringer (Main & Vine). It too has less complexity but my wallet is a simple billfold without many bills inside.

It has always seemed to me that the quality of wine (among other things) does not increase at the same rate as the price.
A nine dollar wine is not three times tastier than a three dollar wine and so on, and on. A few years ago we were given a 150.00 dollar bottle- Cab (we looked it up) neither my wife or I liked it.

Two Buck Chuck does well in blind taste tests. I firmly believe Pessimist has a deeper and longer finish than my typical purchases but I would have to do a real test to prove that. And is it twice as good? No. Does it taste really good? Yes.

Finding really tasty wines that are affordable is always a treat. I’m a big fan of South Australia Shiraz now from exploring and finding some $12-$15 bottles, which is about my true “splurge” ceiling. One of them is from a winery called Red Knot. Good stuff, enough so I was chatting about it while dining at a really great restaurant where I had ordered another label of Shiraz that was a bit more expensive but still not ridiculously overpriced. I commented to my date that I liked the Red Knot better but they didn’t offer it so we would deal with the restaurant’s Shiraz. Our server had heard the conversation and offered us a glass each of a really top end Shiraz they had opened but hadn’t finished the night before. Nice gesture, excellent taste but my curiosity got the better of me later when I got home. I searched for the brand and it was $175/bottle! Certainly not 10x the quality in taste.
