Has is been established that the PoMo forehand is an unnecessary revolution?

By Post Modern forehand I'm referring to the takeback where the stringbed faces down and racquet points to the side fence, and the wrist is flexed instead of extended. Notable users include Kyrgios, Tiafoe, Khachanov. The general consensus seems to be that while there's quite a lot of...

Highest ranked tennis tuber Nishioka analyses and play tests different balls including those used in GSes

So Nishi has been known to occasionally share high-quality subtitled content on YouTube and this is his latest entry, in response to complaints about the balls getting heavier. Really appreciate the work he's doing for the tennis community as a pro player.

A two-fingered serve grip ideal to ensure looseness?

Just attempted this and I felt it was indeed conducive to adding spin and pace. Just lined up the bevel and knuckle as normal but kinda just gripping the handle with a ring formed by my middle finger and thumb with the other fingers barely touching the racquet. Is this too extreme?

What sets Carlos apart is his mentality

Yes he got too excited and cramped up during Roland Garros. But as for actual in-game thinking, point construction, ability to play within himself, the courage to employ variety and the calmness at executing it... he's LEAGUES above the other members of the nextgen. Down 3-0 in second set TB...

Some random theorization about the shortcomings of the SA forehand

Of course folks have been touting the SA as the next big thing since the conception of its modern form, and while utilized by many players known for their strong forehands, the success Djokovic, Hewitt, Medvedev and Murray has had with their forehands playing a counterpunching/ redirection-based...

How similar is the current Vcore 95 to Hewitt's red and white 95D

Had the Vcore 95D 10 years ago and loved it, but sold it as I was broke at the time. Heard they're bringing it back with the 2023 version. How similar does it play to the original?

Came across this and I was like WOW these two guys are still around. Gasquet looks soooo old. Really grateful they're still around though.

Should the rules revolving the MTOs be a little more stringent for the improvement of the game?

Let me preface this by saying I'm not gonna single out any player for their behavior in regards to this, and are proposing the stricter rules more to stay true to the original spirit of MTOs and reduce future controversies so as to preserve the reputation of the sport. I watch other racquet...

The duel between the flat tenacious grinders - Murray and RBA match thread

No thread for this? Thought this was going to be an interesting match and these two are no pushovers. RBA at this point may have the more lethal forehand but let's see if the crafty Brit can take him apart.

Ball toss location and visualisation techniques to make the toss consistent

Have always been more of a slice/kick guy for consistency and better utilization of my lefty spin, but have been struggling a bit with the toss lately. Theoretically you should be tossing a little to the side and in front with the slice but at lot of times I just end up lunging at the ball...

When are they gonna announce their last picks? And your guesses?

I'd be extremely surprised if Europe doesn't pick Alcaraz. But who for world? They don't seem to have any good choices with Kyrgios out. Isner again maybe?

    NGS

Next Gen Syndrome - happens to the best of them - Zverev, Tsitsipas, Thiem, etc. almost always have to endure high five-set counts on their path to later rounds. Even Alcaraz, arguably the most talented of the bunch, can't get past his opponents without some scrapes and bruises along the way...

Appreciating Carlos for appreciating Carlos' sake

Just look at this. Carlos is hitting forehand winners at will whenever there's an opening and what's more, they weren't controlled putaways - he was literally trying to burn a hole in the backboard. And the athleticism - chasing down balls that could've been winners not once but often twice...

Maintaining a loose grip on serve with sweaty overgrip

I guess this is a half-technique half-equipment question so I'll post it here? Been using Wilson Pro Overgrip for almost a decade now. Recently been trying to have a looser grip for the serve and so far it has paid off. Problem is when these tackier overgrips absorb your sweat they become really...

Controllers are like shoes when it comes to tennis games

Went through likely a dozen playing tennis games. The sudden direction changes during movement followed by immediately having to aim your shot just screw up the d-pad/analogue over time. This has given me a newfound appreciation for the difficulty of the sport - you have to move to the shot...

Doesn't having a limited number of domed stadiums in a tournament lead to injustice

Those who are scheduled to play on the outer courts will get their matches delayed indefinitely and may as a result play cramped schedules and also constantly feel a lack of closure. But again, I guess this is just one of the many things the top has "earned".

Always hear Americans uttering this jarring synecdoche in cooking shows. When I bite into a delicious piece of animal I want to visualise my teeth sinking into juicy, tensile flesh, not a bunch of molecules. What next, do we call Lemons "Vitamin Cs"? Bread "Carbohydrates"? Also, WTH is...

    Looking to transition into a conti/eastern 2Hbh

My BH can be a really reliable shot when on but recently have been struggling to hit through the ball properly. Brits and ugly strokes

I swear this has become a common theme - Broady and Norrie play a similar game with a spinny lefty forehand that lacks penetration and a pushtastic backhand. Broady's FH's low finish and minimal non-dominant hand movement just look funky, and of course Norrie's backhand is in the running for the...

Soreness in teres minor/major region after serving

Get this every time after I play some sets. I am just wondering if this is a result of poor technique or repetition. Is there such thing as overextending your shoulder when reaching for the ball? Cus I can feel the most strain when doing either that or when in the trophy position.
