2013 Wimbledon: Similar to 2002 Wimbledon

Several people - including my self, admittedly - have been lamenting all the early exits by top players at Wimbledon this year and it got me thinking about how similar this tournament is to Wimbledon in 2002.

The number 1 seed Lleyton Hewitt was the champion, but as for the other seeds:

2 Marat Safin (Second round)
3 Andre Agassi (Second round)
4 Tim Henman (Semifinals)
5 Yevgeny Kafelnikov (Third round)
6 Pete Sampras (Second round)
7 Roger Federer (First round)
8 Thomas Johansson (First round)
9 Juan Carlos Ferrero (Second round)
10 Guillermo Canas (Second round)
11 Andy Roddick (Third round)
12 Jiri Novak (Second round)
13 Younes El Aynaoui (First round)
14 Thomas Enqvist (Second round)
15 Andrei Pavel (Third round)
16 Nicolas Escude (Third round)

These were the brackets for the last three rounds:

(1) Lleyton Hewitt
vs
(18 Sjeng Schalken

(4) Tim Henman
vs
Andre Sa

(27) Xavier Malisse
vs
Richard Krajicek

(28 David Nalbandian
vs
(22) Nicolas Lapentti

Semifinals

(1) Lleyton Hewitt
vs
(4) Tim Henman

(27) Xavier Malisse
vs
(28 David Nalbandian

Final

(1) Lleyton Hewitt
vs
(28 David Nalbandian

This actually looks worse than this year. Anyway, just thought it was interesting.

Yeah so it will be the #1 seed against someone ranked in the 20s.

You know what that means? Djokovic VS Janowicz.
