So,, Is everybody happy with their ratings now ??? It seems like this year USTA really did their best to bump up everyone that needed to be bumped up and also those that are on the borderline also.... they didn't really care much about bump downs so not much happened there unless you played in 10 matches and got blown out or bageled in all of them.........LOL.

So I am seeing many new 4.0 guys that have been freshly bumped up to my division..............Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Yummy,,, Fresh meat for to be sliced up and eaten..........

Check out this TR blunder. Its a player I work with. She is freaking out over this. Anyone seen anything this out of whack before? First year playing.

Surprise surprise, even though tennisrecord had this 3.0S player's year-end rating at 4.94, she wasn't actually bumped to 5.0, but only to 3.5 like schmke predicted. And her 3.0C partner with the 1.07(!!!) tennisrecord dynamic rating was not in fact bumped to 1.5, but stayed at 3.0. Curiously tennisrecord only said there was a medium likelihood of her being bumped down, and the bump would only be to 2.5, despite her tennisrecord year-end rating of 1.38 (whereas tennisrecord gave a high likelihood that the 3.0S player would be bumped to 5.0, given her tennisrecord year-end rating of 4.94). So tennisrecord was off by at least 1.44 in its year-end ratings for each of these players. Maybe not its best performance.

I guess I'm slightly amused bye all the TR discussion. There is no TR league, so.....who cares. It means absolutely nothing to USTA league. I read someone's comment earlier, " I just play whoever is on the other side of the net." Just play baby!

Of course everyone just plays whoever is on the other side of the net. But many of us enjoy looking at the statistics to learn things from them. Hence our desire to understand how (in)accurate those stats are.

I am only interested in what my true level is when I am playing my best tennis. I don't want to know how bad I am when I am injured.

Play the person across the net at your best and don't suit up for the rest. Then you'll get exactly what you want to know.

Very interesting find if you are dying to get bumped up to the next level. Play as many S1 matches in a team one level above your current NTRP rating. No matter how you play (even if you lose most of them like 1-6, 2-6), you will surely get bumped up to that level by the end of that year. A 3.5 player by this way got bumped up to 4.0 even though the 3rd party rating sites tell the player's rating is somewhere around 3.25. Oh, and most importantly, never play a match at your current NTRP level, as it will screw up your rating if you lose a match or win by a slight margin.
