2022 AO could have the most hyped and fresh SF Line-up since 2008 USO or 2008 AO

Zverev-Alcaraz
Medvedev-Sinner

Monumental, era-ushering lineup.

Medvedev and Zverev have basically taken over or semi-taken over the Nadal/Djokovic mantle, but Sinner and Alcaraz are the 2 most talented players since the Big 3's arrival and fast rising that they're already at said stage.

When Tsitsipas made his first SF at the AO, he was well at his max and not ready for it. This won't be the case here.

Wawrinka was a late bloomer.

Cilic or Nishikori never inspired "will dominate" beliefs.

Etc.

2008 USO had the first Nadal/Federer/Djokovic/Murray lineup, and the latter two were still relatively new to it. AO was similar only that Tsonga brought the vibes instead of Murray.

Here are the potential party spoilers:
Monfils, Opelka, Karatsev/Nadal

To beware of in the near future: Nadal, Djokovic, Thiem, Tsitsipas, Cilic, Del Potro, and the WC's: Karatsev, Opelka.

Why is Opelka a spoiler? He's part of that same generation as Zverev and Medvedev.

The amazing thing is, and there's obviously a long way to go but, at this point we could still get 3 out of 4 semi-finalists (Alcaraz, Sinner, Felix) being post-next genners.

Looking at each 1/4 of the draw Berrettini has it easy on paper as there are no high seeds left in his 1/4. People are saying good things about Alcarez, having watched a few minutes of highlights he might cause an upset as he looks like a fighter, has good shots and is easily more mobile than Berrettini. Mateo is likely to meet the winner of a probable Zverev-Nadal QF match.

In the 2nd quarter Zed will probably play Nadal in the QF as has the potential to be a tough physical match for both players. At Nadal's age how will his fitness hold up?

In the 3rd and 4th quarters Medvedev is fav to his quarter and Tsitsipas in his if he's regained his pre-injury form.

Forcing Djokavic out was one of the only ways to get just about anyone else a chance for the title (of the new comers, Medvedev excluded). Think of it as Affirmative Action for tennis.

Would be the youngest lineup since those times, I figure. Still a long way till it comes to pass, though. Even then, I don't expect the younger guys to be competitive right away in their first slam semi.

Hype, underperformance and narcissism diagnoses are the defining characteristics of the diamond age.

Turn at least the performance aspect of the equation around and then the rest of the s**t sandwich might be a little more palatable.

That means winning the whole damn thing, convincingly, not just making the semis. If the semis was relevant, PCB, Thiem, Shaps, Berry and Kandyman would matter. But they don’t.

Trying a little too hard to hype up these "potential" matchups. We saw how that worked out with your first thread with all the ones that didn't happen or turned into duds. Why not wait and see until these guys ACTUALY win their next few matches to start the hype train.

I like how Shapovalov doesn't even get a mention here, not even as a "party spoiler" alongside Opelka and Karatsev
That's some next-level disrespect

Don't think it'll ever approach the hype of some of the past SF lineups, especially those when the Big 3 era was at its zenith.

It would be fresh, though, and that's something I could look forward to especially after 2021's relatively disappointing Slam SFs.

Terrifying...

the sleeveless look will be looked upon down the road like we do with Nadal now.

Med/Zed will soon be feeling like Fed at '07 WB ("I gotta treasure every one I can get now, before he takes them all), I reckon.... with Sinner/Alcaraz.
