It's a rough draw for Rafa but because of that it's full of epic fuel.

In-form Kokkinakis in front of his home crowd in the second round
Khachanov in the third - maybe a repeat of their great 2018 USO match
Karatsev/Hurkacz in the fourth
Zverev in the quarters

All of those matches could turn out to be really good.

Look out for Mackenzie McDonald as an interesting floater in that section of the draw too.

Semis: Alcaraz def. Nadal; and Medvedev def. Ruud :)

Final: Alcaraz def. Medvedev :)

Hope it’s two complete randoms that nobody has heard of in the final! Sure that will do wonders for the ratings #onon

I've gone with what is probably the most obvious option, namely Medvedev. I know he lost at the ATP finals but he's been playing consistently well on HC, and with no Novak there he's the most likely choice (though far from a lock).

If he does, he'll be the new #1. Likewise Zverev can become #1 with a tournament win.

Alcaraz making a deep run would be awesome. Let's hope the youngster is ready for the hype. He seemed to handle himself pretty well last time he made it further than expected. Any idea if he's still playing with kinesio tape everywhere? I was worried watching him last year.

Tabilo might be a tough one for Alcaraz. We'll see how the match goes, but Tabilo looked really solid in qualifying.

ESPN showing Shapovalov who was entirely unconvincing in that 1st set, kind of lucked the TB. Serbians not having a good week, Djere mugged that TB.

Have you seen that they're only having 4 hours of TV coverage per night too? If they think this will get me to subscribe to ESPN + they've got no idea.

man, it's complete BS. After the first week we'll get one good match at best. I mean, those are from 2-6am for the Eastern time zone, but still it's a bit of a joke.

Anybody following Delbonis Martinez? They're still in the first set, 12-12 in a tiebreaker. Are they playing this like a claycourt match?

Martinez/Delbonis played an hour and 40 minute first set.

Bonzi defeated Gojowczyk in their entire match in 1 hour and 36 minutes..

Bonzi the first through to the 2R.

Gael looks fine. Probably going to regret not taking under 30/29 games in this one.

Nakashima and Berrettini underway too. That one could be interesting.

Well was able to grab Gael's match at under 27.5 games. Won the first set 6-1 so that should be more than doable for him, unless he decides to screw around. Coria doesn't have enough in his game to bother Gael though.
