8T tie off uh no!

Look at the grommet holes from the outside of the frame. The hole to tie off the mains is considerably bigger than those not intended to be used for tie-offs...... it should be pretty obvious when you look at the grommet.

yeah some of the grommets are larger looking compared to obvious mains but the 8 is larger as well but to tie off there seems impossible

looking at the diagram it looks like you would tie off at 7T

*****edit*****

...... meant to say 7th main..... which is 8T.....

sorry for any confusion......

Diagram seems to show the 8T for main tie off which also seems right when compared to other Wilson frames (e.g., BLX 6.1 95 16x18)--8T would be the normal tie off hole for the mains (i.e., you should tie off your 8th and final main to the 7th main (which runs through 8T). Try taking a spare piece of string--cut a sharp edge and wax it--then try to get it through 8T from either the inside or the outside--that may open a smooth space for you to get the tie off sting into there--it may just be a case of a brand new frame being a bit too tight. In the future, if this continues to be a problem, try putting your spare piece of string in that hole before you tighten that main to preserve your space. Good luck.

Looking at the diagram it appears to me 8T is the main tie off hole

http://www.wilson.com/en-us/sports/tennis/pdf/rackets/Pro_Staff_Six_One_95_BLX.pdf?view=Standard

The flaw may be in the way the string from 6th to the 7th mains goes through the grommet at an angle causing it to be hard to get the tail from the 8th main through to tie off. Try putting the tail in before tensioning the last two mains.

EDIT: if you are using a soft multi string 16 gauge string it will be even more difficult.

actually if you look at the racquet not the diagram the + for tie off is actually at 6T and not 8T, even if you look at the pictures of the racquet from the top down to see the + it is at 6T and not 8T

That is correct, it is very easy to see that 6T is a larger tie off hole but then when stringing two piece you have two strings covering hole 7T

and looking at 8T it is a much smaller hole

You are right about the picture and you have the racquet in front of you--if you can comfortably tie it off at 6T (Irwin notes the block issue above however), I suspect that is fine. I will make sure I look at this frame next time I am in a shop.

7 hole isn't really covered the grommets actually have a --divider that makes accessing 7 easy as the other strings are off to the side, so i actually did the 2 piece tied off mains at 6T and crosses at 11T and 5H

i guess my question is more why would wilson publish instructions and then put the + (normally locations for tie offs) in totally different spots??

and also if it were a 1 piece string job the + hole should be 7T but the + is at 6T, I guess I am just mad because I was following Wilson's PDF and decided to flare the supposed tie off holes at 8T and couldn't get the darn string in there, hoping for a little education from the experts

They made a mistake.

It is very easy to see that 8T is not a tie off if you just look at the size of the grommet hole.
