a cross or main?

What is the primary difference when you put a poly as a main vs. a poly as a cross (using a synt as the hybrid)?

one of my sticks came with like OGSM16-mains and i think a Kirsch cross? or might be Bab Revenge. this was on a 16/19 string pattern. the string life on these were.. probably half used, but i noticed that there was minimal bite, and the ball kinda slipped off the strings. very bouncy feeling, alot of power behind it.
vs
BHBR17-mains and MCS16-cross... very idk.. controlled? to me it wasnt as fun as the full BHBR setup, but i dont have enough money to re-string my racquet like every week or two once poly goes dead. okay set up overall, spin, control, some power.

Unfortunately my BHBR/MCS setup, the MCS cross broke after just about two weeks. Whereas compared to the first time i strung it, it lasted almost a month. now im debating to try some of these:

WeissCANNON Scorpion
WeissCANNON B5E
Tourna BHB7
or a soft poly cross with BHBR as a main (or cross?)

any ideas/response with recommendations is nice. thanks.

Syngut or multi in the crosses softens the stringbed and adds power.
Nylon/poly is an attempt to get a cheap version of Gut/Poly.
There is no real substitute.

BHBR works well with OGSM17 crosses.
For that matter, just about ANY poly works well with the Gosen Sheep.

Full Syn gut, I like. Poly/syn gut I like a lot - plays very much like poly but with better comfort. Syn/poly was probably one of the worst set ups I have ever used - no spin, the strings felt very loose, no control. Someone else started a thread about this, had the same experience.
