A Message to Babolat .. Please go back to the standard progressive string spacing on Pure Aero and Drive models. The open pattern was just a bad fad!

so many of your loyal fans feel the same way.. i would have been all in on the new Pure Aero's, but that open pattern sticks in my mind as a real flaw when it comes to control
so i find myself going back to the former APD frames.
if you were to go back to the standard spacing, we would all agree that the racquets would be much better off.

so for my TT brothers who agree. post a message on here. and maybe we can make a difference. and right this wrong. thanks in advance.

APD and older PD are GOAT frames as far I'm concerned!

That said, I liked the latest 2019 Pure Aero and Pure Aero VS too, far better than 2016 version PA. Requires a bit of adjustment but if you have that whip in your strokes and have good topspin, you can bring the ball down and find control.

Agreed. APD 2013 plus is still my go to frame. I owned both the first and second gen Pure Aero plus and felt a lack of control with both of those frames. If Babolat made the new frames with the old string pattern I'd be all over them.

I Just picked up a mint condition original 2005 APD. what a find.
i also got a 2013..
but wow this was my best pickup of the year by far. near mint condition . on the 1st gen. im stoked.

I have to respectfully disagree. IMO the Pure Aero 2019 is about perfect for an aggressive baseliner with heavy spin. I honestly can't think of anything that needs improvement. It has 75% of the advantages of a Pure Aero 2016 with less than 25% of the cost. And I think those small things can be fixed with string setups. It swings fast, but still has enough weight that it doesn't get pushed around. I would say it's biggest weakness is trying to control the flat ball, but it has so much horsepower when hitting with spin that you don't really need to hit flat. In other words it has great put away power. I love my 2013 APDs and I use them from time to time for doubles or against finesse players where I want a flatter, lower ball. But overwhelmingly the bigger your opponent hits the more the Pure Aero 2019 stands above. I honestly think even Rafa could benefit if he switched. Supposedly they developed the Pure Aero to try and give him more bite and weight to his shots, but he struggled a bit with control. The 2019 has managed to tame the beast. I have not hit with a new PAVS, but it looks amazing. I think it seems like a great option for someone looking for the next iteration of APD. But I say leave the Pure Aero 2019 as it is. The thing is a marvel. Keep up the great work Babolat!!

I actually love the 2019 pure aero, I hit with it a few times recently and I’ve been eyeing it...

LOL you dont know what you are talking about. Babolat didnt create this to help Rafa with anything that is absurd. they made this string pattern to appeal to the spin fad that was raging in and around the 2014 area onward which is now completely dead. .

Its kind of both. He was testing this frame. The thing is that its too open for a lot of players. I enjoyed the 2015 for around a year before going to closed patterns - which I have used ever since.

The money version was the extended length, which was my choice. I needed the extra plow. Really nice racquet but I get a lot of spin already with my natural swing - I want control and some solid power. So the 18x20 Blade does it for me.

I agree this frame is too open. You blaze through strings with it and the tension changes rapidly, which is kind of a bummer.

Smart business strategy on Babolat’s part though when you think about it. They end up selling tons more strings as a result. Lol. And isn’t that the name of the game? Make consumers buy more product to drive up revenues and profits?

Wilson really took that concept to another level when they released the Steam and other S version frames.

Same with Prince and their line of ESP racquets. Although given so many of their sticks use the open 16/18 pattern which already generate tons of spin, not sure why they felt the need to go to the 16/16.

My Freind. I never doubted he tried the racquet out. But as I had said. Babolat were not trying to help Rafa out with this design. The other way around. They leaned on him to try their new tech. And it didn’t work. I like many of Apd fans have a lot of natural spin on my already loooy forehand. I don’t need any more help. Especially at the loss of control. This new pattern was released for the 2016 model at the height of the spin craze. It was a fad. And now that fad is over. So as I had mentioned. It’s time to go back to the classic.

Not only that. But another message to Babolat is Rafa is on the tail end of his career. Let’s bring the classic pattern back. And also go with a very similar paint job to the original as a tribute to him. Customers will be overjoyed and sales will be better than ever. A win win. Let’s go Eric.

They didn't invent that spacing during any fad that was the original pure drive spacing before they tighten it... So the pattern of today is classic... Not saying it's good or anything just fyi

I was able to obtain 2 mint 2005 APD's in the last couple of weeks... fsimply the best sticks I've ever hit with...
now my go to #1 sticks... even though I like the new PA VS's as well.. now they sit along side my other RF's to gather dust...

I hope Babolat would re-release the original APD's. no cortex, no FSI spin, no other gimmics.. ..just the way they were originally released..

Never get why they opened the string pattern up on both the PA and the PD. Makes no sense..... the pattern on the APD was perfect! If they brought it back i would use it in a flash. Even though i hate the colour!

I hated the feel of the APD. Still have mine lying around somewhere but never get the urge to hit with it.

Clinging to my last (3) 2013 APDs because of this issue. Will try to hold on (with hope) to the next PA release. I hit a relatively heavy ball, but I want the ability to flatten the ball out at times. The recent Babs are completely missing the mark for me. I think Yonex is taking some loyal Babolat players. I might be next.

That said, I liked the latest 2019 Pure Aero and Pure Aero VS too, far better than 2016 version PA. Requires a bit of adjustment but if you have that whip in your strokes and have good topspin, you can bring the ball down and find control.

Babolat shared their future plans with you? Or you jumped in your Delorean and went Back to the Future to visit 2103? :-D

I think the only great Apd is the original Nadal model. The others arent bad but cortex is clearly a gimmick so not needed. Why not bring back this Nadal classic and call it Nadal special but for a normal price.

If you’re playing tennis in 2103 as an incubated energy source in the matrix, would overdoing it with a PD strung with RPM Blast still give you virtual epicondylitis? o_O:unsure:
