Adidas Barricade

I am getting ready to purchase my first real pair of tennis shoes. I have been using Nike Cross Trainers. If the Adidas Barricades fit me well, that is the shoe I am going with. I went to my local Adidas shop and the have Barricade II in regular and mid, Barricade iV and Barricade V. What are the main differences? Also have you found one to be better than the others?

Barricade 2 Reg- most people have found this shoe to be the best out of the barricade series. according to one of the threads.

Barricade 2 Mid- This shoe is the same as the barricade reg except that the part near the ankle is higher up, like basketball shoes. I tried these shoes once and i didn't really like them. I didn't feel the ankle were getting supported rather they were restricted.

Barricade IV- This model to me was stiffer and heavier than the previous models. The width was more narrow than the previous models, as adidas tried to make it glove fit like the barricade 2s.

Barricade V- This is my favorite model and the barricades newest model. I think its most flexible model and took the least amount of time to break in. The glove fit is perfect and i haven't had any problems.

Well, hope this has helped somehow and good luck in your purchase.

I have 2 pairs of v's and 1 pair of the II's. They are both awesome shoes. I would give the II's a slight edge in feel but you cant go wrong with either shoe.

Barricade II gets my vote as the best Barricade ever. Not only is it as stable and durable as the others, but it's also lighter. Barricade IV and V both weigh over 17 oz, while the II only weighs 16.

Avoid the Barricade 4 at all costs. They are uncomfy in the toebox of one shoe.

The Barricade 5's are very comfortable. I've never worn the Barricade 2.

I've had Barricade IIs and Barricade IVs and I like the Barricade IVs better because they have much better lateral support IMO. I rolled my ankle a couple of times with the Barricade IIs, but I have never even come close to rolling my ankle with the Barricade IVs. Also, I find the Barricade IVs to be just as comfortable as the Barricade IIs. I'll admit The Barricade IIs are lighter and don't require as long to break in as the Barricade IVs, but that is a tradeoff I am willing to make. I haven't tried the BVs... yet.

I would recommend avoiding mid- or high-top shoes, in general. They do about as much harm as good. Good lateral support in a tennis shoe comes from where the sole meets the upper, not from the ankle portion.

For me, I like the fit of the B2 better than the B4 or B5 and it has to do with the arch shape as the B4 and B5 has more of a peak than the B2. I used the B4 and didn't think it was bad, but the B2 for me has the best fit. I have the B2 mids as well and don't really notice a big difference in that extra 'support' so I'd just get the lows.

I picked up the Barricade 2's. It was nice that I had them all to try on and I liked the the feel and look of the 2's the best.
