Adjusting base clamps on an X-ST

It's about time for me to adjust the base clamps on my X-ST. I've noticed that I have to turn them farther and farther to get them locked down properly. So, what is the best way to make that adjustment?

I think I was over-tightening them to begin with, I had never used fixed clamps before. I am correct in my current thinking that I should only tighten the base clamps as much as it takes to prevent them from slipping, right? Thanks.

I think the lock nut is 17mm. Flip the lever on the clamp into the un-lock position and turn the lock nut 1/8th of a turn clockwise to tighten. Then flip the lever to the locked position to check. Keep doing that until you are satisfied with the setting. Sometimes all it takes is a 1/16th of turn.

The adjustment is very small most of the time. Give it a little turn, check it. Then another little turn if it still not tight enough. Usually after 2 small turns, I'm happy with it. I've got one clamp I need to adjust next time I string.

Yes, use the holes on the bottom of the table to tighten with a 17mm socket!
