Tightening base part of clamps (Gamma Prog II ST)

Hey all,

I have a Gamma Progression II ST machine. I am seeing my tension drop a bit (6-12 lbs), and I am wondering if there is a way to tighten the base clamps so that it locks up tighter?

Could this be an issue. I mean I know that there will be some pullback when releasing the tensioner to the clamp, but curious if this could be a problem?

Stringer is pretty new, and I never really have done any adjustments other than cleaning the clamps.

Anyway, if there is a way to tighten the base part of the swivel clamps so that it holds tension better I would love to know.

Is it as simple as a socket thru the bottom and using an allen wrench? Does it need to be clamped (when adjusting)?

Thanks for any feedback.

Have you looked in the manual? it is in there. the clamp adjustment is from underneath w/ a 17mm socket.

also have you checked the calibration? it is the more likely problem.

My first guess is that is not your problem. There is some play when the base hosel and the shaft of the clamp. There has to be so the clamp can move freely. This play will account for a little movement. To test the base of the clamp just pull tension on a center string (scrap string is fine) with the clamp from the opposite side of the string. Put some tape on the table next to the clamp base on the opposite side from the tensioner. Pull tension and see if the base moves.

I did not get a manual specific to my machine. Perhaps there is something online ? I got a GAMMA getting started Stringing manual. Nothing specific to my machine. So could that help, tightening the socket, or is that typically not necessary ?

I borrowed a Gamma tension calibrator, so I'm going to do that (again).

Thanks for the feedback.

Right, and appreicate the note.

This test has been fine (proc you pointed out above), and so as I suspected, the clamps are fine. On to testing the the tensioner.

Thx.
