I personally want Rafa back and healthy of course.

but I’m not looking forward to when he loses at the AO and hearing Rafans turn on him and talk about how injured and crap his form is and how he’s a grandpa lol

In your opinion, will Nadal and Djokovic stick around to take their thrashings?

Just like Federer had the sac to do?

Nadal has been ducking almost every unfavorable scenario since 2009 I’m not sure why that’d change now lol.

Djokovic it’ll depend if he gets the slam record or not. My guess is they both play til ‘24 Olympics but if one has the Slam record I don’t see them playing it out til 40 at all. What would be the point?

lol on Nad. Check.

20-up, IMO. And I think Djokovic actually finds an exit as well.

Lol I thought Sabratha made a new account with @MichaelNadal 's name and avi

No, just digging up posts from years ago, when it's common knowledge I have threads that I purposefully use the same titles for lol. Whack :p
I do think Nadal's presence on tour is missed though. Barely played these last 2 years, hoping for one more full season where he's competitive and epic :D

Totally feel you there :D and 20-20-20 would be a fine ending tbh.

I somewhat miss young Joker too. At the beginning of his career he was so much more dynamic, aggressive and generally fun to watch.

Man, I just miss exciting young players who will eventually be ATGs. I have so many memories seeing these guys break through:

Connors, Borg, Mac, Becker, Edberg, Chang, Agassi, Sampras, then the Big 3. I'm so freaking old, I'm 4 years older than the oldest, Connors. I remember all these guys when they were super young. I remember seeing Mac on an outer court in Wimbledon. I followed every match shown of Becker the year he first won W.

I don't have that excitement about any of the young guys. Either they just are good enough to win big (like Shapo) or they have really ugly games (Meddy). If there will be any young guy I can get really excited about again, it's in the future.

Will we ever again see the kind of talent the Big 3 had?

Exactly, and they were so CONSISTENT. The best part of being a big 3 fan is knowing that they would always be in the late stages of tournaments with each other having epic matches all the time. Now all the guys I like are so spotty.

Yup. Spotty is the word. And you can spot it with their stats. They all have comparative weaknesses on offense or defense.

I keep talking about 60%. It's the one thing you can check throughout the open era. The great ones hit that number for games, or higher, in peak years. Or very close.

You look at a guy like Shapo, and during good moments he's so impressive. If you look at highlights, you think he's a future ATG. But then you look at his stats and he DFs as many times as he aces. That kind of weakness is fatal. These young guys can't win games. You either see horrible flaws in their strokes or you see stupid tactics. We all saw Thiem go for pure power for years, and in the end all he did was hurt his body.

Even with the tall guys who move well, like Zod and Meddy, you don't see great serves for their height. Roanic didn't win because he couldn't defend. If Zod and Meddy had serves like Raonic, they'd already have several slams.

I think he will come back strong; still don't see him taking down Zverev and Medvedev (and possibly Djokovic) back to back in Australia. But a SF or even a Final is doable.

The clay season will be a key moment for him. He has underperformed in the clay Masters 1000 since 2018. Only 1 in 2019, 0 in 2020, 1 in 2019. Now it's clear Zverev, Tsitsipas, Thiem and even other players (Rublev and Fognini in MC, Shapovalov had Match points in Rome) can take him out in BO3 on clay.
And of course RG. If he loses to someone who's not named Djokovic, it will be a turning point. As long as he wins or only loses to Djokovic, he is still favorite there, that's why this year will be so important.
