Affordable tennis vacation?

Ok, so I have a free round trip airline ticket to anywhere in the USA. The catch is that I have to use it up before November 15th of this year, which is basically two weeks from today. I'm traveling by myself so I would need a place that has ample guests or tennis players/coaches willing to play or hit around. I'm coming off injury (fractured foot 3 months back) so I don't necessarily need to be playing 5 hours per day. Ideally I'd like a place with a nice outdoor pool or beach to relax when not playing and basic meals to be included. I'm thinking 2 or 3 days and not spending more than $600.00, is this doable? And what places? Saddlebrook, FL looks really nice but the room rates may be prohibitive, I like that they have a mix of hard/clay/grass courts. Anything similar in my price range?

Naples Grande, FL has a "tennis for life" package for 3 nights and 2 days for $420 but I'm not sure if it includes room rates? That would be perfect for me.

Check out the weather forecasts. I have been to a camp in Naples, FL and half of each day was rained out. It is better to play it safe and come to So Cal.

What is your best bang for the (lower) buck suggestion in So Cal? I am in a very similar situation to the OP, but I am on the west coast.

So many here. Check out Rancho Valencia in SD (expensive), La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, and then there is this Dent Tennis Academy is Newport Beach whose web site says there is a program for adults to spend time on tennis and actually eat and live with the Dents.

Is there anywhere to go with organized play that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
I just looked at your Topsl recommendation, and it is $179 for three hours of tennis! That is what is considered a good deal? That would cost my wife and I $358 to play 3 hours of tennis.

I guess we will look to go to Newks but were hoping for a bit better vacation and maybe a bit less tennis. But everywhere I look it is absolutely outrageous pricing.

I believe Newk's is pretty tennis intensive, but it's near San Antonio which is a great town to visit - so you could go to Newks and then go to San Antonio for a pure vacation follow-on. Do the river walk, see the Alamo!

Another difference is many courts in FL are now clay (har tru/basalt). Most SoCal courts are HC.

Yup, did the Alamo a couple of years ago. And I am sure we will be going to Hawaii again. (We have collected over 2M points/miles in various Credit Card/banking deals. Check out FlyerTalk.com. Just finished a first class 4 week jaunt to Peru, Argentina, and Costa Rica at no out of pocket cost for air/hotel/food/activities.)

Sure, we can go to a hotel with a tennis court, such as in Hawaii and play against each other, not so fun. Or maybe have them set up a match or two.

I am looking ideally for a fun social place to go, where we catch some group instruction in the morning, then they run social mixers during the afternoon, where we are not paying $120/hour!

We will probably ending up going to Newks, though we would prefer some place nicer and not as intense. We would like to play all day long, but Arthritis and surgery in both 54 year feet makes running around too much very painful, and some other injury laying me up at the beginning of a week long paid for session wouldn't be much fun either.

Would prefer not to need to be setting up our own matches. We might want to look at snow bird community locations as well and start spending a month or more during the winter as another option. Any suggestions for that?

I'd suggest Indian Wells & Palm Spring but it gonna be too hot right now. Mabye in Fall.

That would be awkward eating with Dent. You'd be like, "So.. .. uh.. so how's your back these days? Oh and could you pass the salt?"

Right, I was thinking of Palm Springs earlier, we still have some SPG points available for stay at the Westin. Is there organized play there, or do you sign up for lessons and then they try to find you a match for other play?

We would be going sometime in late fall through very early spring.
