After Federer retires

After Fed retires, who do you think will be in the Top 10. Fed will probably retire after 2012 Olympics cause he as always said he wants to play the olympics at wimbledon.

I say.

1. Djokovic

2. Nadal

3. Murray

4. Gasquet

5. Roddick

6. Gulbis

7. Nishikori

8. Isner

9. Monfils

10. Tsonga

I have a feeling that Roddick is going to play longer than Fed just as Agassi did with Sampras even if he isn't that great. Plus Agassi won 5 GS after 28. FO, US, 3 AO.

I'm not agreeing on Isner. All the others have a lot more probability. Especially Gulbis. Don't think Murray will ever get that high though. I think Roddick will be top 3 again.

Federer will be 27 in August. I just don't see him sticking around for another 4 years. Not with all the money he made and the fame he has achieved. Just wait, it looked as if he was slipping earlier this year, and thats just the start. He might slide next year and then ...? I would retire in glory, if I were he.

No way in hell will Gasquet be anywhere close to #4. I doubt he is even top 10. Roddick sure as heck wont be top 5 either, he wont be in the top 10 if he is even still playing himself. I dont know maybe something like:

1. Djokovic
2. Gulbis
3. Murray
4. Chardy
5. Nadal
6. Schwank
7. Nishikori
8. Haase
9. Tsonga
10. Almagro

Nadal is at the age he will already be past his prime but still strong enough to stay in the top 5-6 I am guessing. Djokovic will still be at his peak. I dont really think all these will be there neccessarily, and could easily be people we dont even know a bit of now. However of players we know a bit of now I would pick these.

I dont know for sure if Federer will retire after 2012. Barring a miracle he will be clearly past his prime by then, but that doesnt mean for sure he will retire.

Fed will retire if he lose in Wimbly and US open this year, that's for sure.
I can't see him playing as the number 3 or 4, and probably Roger think the same.

MURRAY #3 !?!?!?!

YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING.

Murray is the most over rated piece of ugly garbage in the world!
Please revise your choice!!

In my opinion Federer is the type of player who will work even harder if he loses the number 1 ranking.

Don't be ridiculous. Unless he is suffering from poor health or injury, Federer will not retire before his 30s. He has said on numerous occasions he has been inspired by Agassi's career and will probably only end up retiring when his body begins to break down. He knows he will not continue to be No.1 everyday over the next 5-10 years.

i heard that too, so what? he is not gonna say i will retire after wimbledon that's gor sure, but do you really think that he will play as #4 chasing Rafa and Djoko, losing even more?
No way, if that happens (losing no1) he will retire in matter of months, that's sad but true :-?

I don't think Federer will lose his No.1 ranking this season, but he knows at some stage he will. He'll try to continue the consecutive streak for as long as possible, but once it goes he'll know he can still win Slams regardless of ranking. All former No.1s have continued to play once they have lost the top spot and contended for Slams, I don't expect Federer to be any different. It would be an admission of defeat if he threw in the towel, and as good as Nadal and Djokovic are, I still consider Federer the better player, so health remaining good, he should be around for a while.

He has a huge ego, he will quit before he goes down to 3 or 4.

yeah, like Borg quited after loss in W 1981... i hope that he will manage to break Sampras record before he lose his #1, but let's just see what happens in W this year, if he win this he will stay no 1 at least until next year.
This W should be cruical for him.

I don't think Federer will retire until he believes he can no longer win Grand Slams. This is what it's all about.

Is anyone seriously going to suggest that if Roger lose the No. 1 Ranking but has 13 or 14 GS, that he will not stick around to win another 1 or 2. Ridiculous.

If he wins W + USO this year he will just need 1 more GS next year to be all-time GS leader. But even then I believe he will still stick around for a while, to enjoy all the fruits of being a living legend..and maybe win a French like Agassi.

.

This will be 2013, right ? Djokovic and Nadal will become like 26, or 27 within 2013. We do not currently have that many top 10 players at these age, you know... Maybe some 26 year olds but only guy who is older than 26 is Jame Blake now...
