Alternative Asics Gel Resolution 6? (overpronation / wide feet)

Currently I am wearing out my second pair of Gel resolution 6 shoes. Main problem is the inner side of the heel were all the fabric and the soft cushioning have worn off. I think the main problem is a little bit of overpronation with my feet.

For example, the first pair of shoes (GR6) were completely worn off, especially the area under my big toe (which had a lot of callus) and the area behind my heels.

So i went to a runner shop and they adviced an inner sole that corrects with some medial arch support. This helped a lot. Callus under my big toe reduced. But as I mentioned, after 1 year the area behind my heels has worn off already (again).

So now I am wondering should i buy another pair of these shoes? Or are there better alternatives. My size is 11.5 (Euro 46.0) and i have rather wide feet than small with a little bit of overpronation. Gel Resolution were good but sometimes fellt a little bit sluggish somehow, so I dont know if I should buy them again, maybe there are better alternatives?

many thanks in advance!

Wait, are you wearing one pair for 1 year? If so, then that's your main issue. You should change shoes every 4 months or so if you're playing regularly. Once the support/cushioning wears out, it's time to get new shoes, regardless of what the outside looks like.

Sorry, that's not true.

It all depends on so many different factors and most people shouldn't even use any kind of support/cushioning, because that'll weaken your feet, joints and so on.

Sadly the sports industry hasn't realized that yet entirely.

I wouldn't say that's true for most people, maybe some people. I know what you're saying. I like minimalist shoes also. I use them for running (short distances) and going to the gym, and they definitely help with engaging the muscles of the feet to make them stronger. However, I can't imagine using them for tennis. Even though I maintain a forefoot strike when running for exercise, I still strike my heels when I play tennis. If you heel strike at all, minimalist shoes will kill your joints.

I tried on the Nike Zoom Cage 2 before. They felt great just walking around in-store. Generous space with no front foot squishing. It wasn't for me though since it would've been too loose when actually playing tennis.

The Zoom Cage 2 was specifically designed for slightly wide feet. I couldn't judge the arc support since I didn't do any fast movements in the store, but I've heard the arc is low-medium. If you get the Zoom Cage 2 you may need to replace the insole.

Thanks for the input, I bought the GR7 and they are perfect. Only the insole I used in my old shoes is not functioning anymore. Does somebody has a suggestion for a new insole which is suitable for people with fallen arches? I did benefit from my old ones because the hard skin on the medial side of my big toe reduced significantly.

I did find these: Superfeet Green insoles

Dr Scholl's active are probably the best imho.

As for better shoes, not sure about your wide feet though: https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...roper-cushioning.502040/page-11#post-11196837

Indeed and as for other brands I did try a bunch, some of the better ones being Spenco etc.

Over Dr. Scholl's active rule for me.

I does not seem possible to order them in the Neterlands right now..
Meanwhile I was looking on the forums here and saw that a lot of people use the Superfeet Orange? You, or anybody else, got experience with these and fallen arches? Downside is, they cost almost 50 euros, almost half of the actual shoe!

Why don't you get custom insoles?
I don't know about health care in the netherlands, but in germany you get those with a prescription from your doctor.

I bought the superfeet orange and used them for a few hours in my GR7's. Price is high, almost 60 euros in the Netherlands in a retail store. Size is not optimal, they had to cut them a little bit. The comfort is excellent just as the cushioning. Arch support is medium I would say but I do not think they will lose it's form very fast as the material is plastic around the arch.
Only downside so far is that the lateral side of the arch tend to pinch in your feet when I slide, but maybe I need to tie my shoes better.
