alternatives to Babolat natural gut

I have become slightly addicted to Babolat natural gut - I have used the VS touch 16 gauge for awhile now.

I am looking for comparable alternatives - because 1) the price of gut gets to me after awhile, and 2) I'm not crazy about this new BT7 technology that Babolat is using.

Does anyone have any comparisons they could give? It's always seemed to me like Babolat was the gold standard when it came to gut, and I definitely want to stay with gut if possible, but I'm open to other suggestions.

If you don't mind the slightly stiffer string, Pacific Tough Gut would be an alternative. I still prefer VS over all the other guts based on the soft plush feel of the string and BT7 while not as plush as the original VS is still better than the rest in my opinion.

op what frame do you use?

I have used Bab guts for years, and while looking for a better cross for it, accidentally found out that OGSM works exceptionally well with my frame.

I use it in a hybrid setup so cost is halved and doesn't hit the pocket book as hard.

Pacific PRIME gut is their softest line. Very similar to VS, with better durability.

Another good comparable product is Genesis Natural Gut. It is less durable than Pacific, but softer as well. As close to VS in my experience, and not a 'budget' gut like Titan or Global.

I don't think I will try this setup mainly because the synthetic will create more friction than a smooth poly and shorten the life of the the gut.

when I was using the T10 mid Gen 1 before the switch, that frame is pillow-like.... have tried full gut, and gut/Ashaway Liberty 16... and preferred the hybrid for the cost and the ease of weaving the cross, and also the nylon puts a 'ceiling' to the gut power..... also tried OGSM once on that frame and hated it LOL (was wondering what the rave was about with OGSM).

switched to DNX10 about 6 months ago - the Liberty cross is too soft... so I was searching for a more crisp cross in OGSM.... and tried OGSM mains/Liberty16 cross just for the heck of it, and I absolutely am loving it.. the feel is even more sexy than gut/OGSM combo.... the contact is very much like the PS85, that woodish, crunchy-ish but still flexible feel.
