Anybody Serve and Volley with an Extended?

I've played with an extended racquet for the past two days. Like it and I'm not having any real problems volleying. Anyone else share my experiance? Is serve and volley your bread and butter like it is for me? I'm just interested in hearing opinions.

I've never used an extended racquet for S&V but extended racquets are only 0.25" - 0.50" longer than a regular 27" long racquet. I would think that it would require some adjustments but not that much.

However, extended racquets may be marketed to people who wants more reach and power than their taller peers, thus the ratio between the height of a player to the length of the racquet might be less for shorter individuals, which would affect their volleys more than for taller individuals.

I serve and volley with a Yonex RD Ti-70 Long (98), 27.5 in. I find it a little less maneuverable for volleys than standard length racquets, but when my serve is on, the flat bombs I can crack off with it usually generate a weak reply to put away. And the box frame construction adds to the feel I think. I really like this stick.

I S&V with my APDC+ with no problems. APD and ADP+ are real easy to swing and get around, unlike no others that I have found to date. They swing about a full oz. lighter IMO.

I had no trouble volleying well w/ a Wilson nPro Open X I demoed... I thought it would be awkward but it's really not, felt just like normal really. I think it has more to do w/ the balance than anything... some other XL rackets I didn't like volleying with at all.

It makes shots that are further away easier and shots that are close harder. That's what happens when a racquet gets longer, just like a player's arms.

D R...

Hope you're enjoying the racquets...just remember with any x length racquet on groundies and especially volleys, footwork is key...you have to take those little adjustment steps to get yourself out of the way on most "body volleys" or you will really get jammed...other than that, just bomb the 1st serve and knock of the high ones ;)

My younger son, average height for his age, used to do a fair amount of S&Vs w/a Head Fire. WOrked very well for him...

C U, I'm actually really digging the 27.5 sticks. I've never heard of many serve and volley specialists using extended, but the suit me fine. I am 6'5" and the serve is booming. My footwork is very good when I volley, so I guess that's why I am having such a easy transition. Thanks again for the racquets.
