Anyone Else Pickup 20 Cans of Penn Championship From Costco For $40?

Yep, saw 29.99 last year in store. Some balls come out a bit flat right out of the can and they lose their bounce much faster than tour-level balls. I'm not really a ball snob but I recently opened cans of Costco Penns and Wilson US Open balls together for rallying and after an hour the differences were obvious. I'll keep the Costco Penns for casual hitting but maybe pick up a case of better balls for anything more serious.

Nothing wrong with Costco Penns. I've been buying those for 7-8 years...
I had maybe 2 cans of flat ones and couple of cans of overinflated [emoji2957] ones that jumped like crazy and felt hard. Not too bad, over all those years.

Local USTA District has used these balls for at least 10 yrs for Adult League matches. Love them for clay court matches. May try the ED by Ellen ball,

They are not bad for everyday, low cost balls. I have had a few cans over the years be bad, low bounce, odd shaped, etc..but overall for the price they are worth it. Lately I have been buying Dunlops when they are on sale w/free shipping b/c then I never get my balls mixed up with others b/c literally everyone plays the Penns ;)

Comparing the Costco Penns I will say depending on your game/play level they will not be as durable. Currently playing Dunlop ATPs and they really have great durability (bounce and felt) vs the Costco Penn balls.

You can get a case of Penn Tour for $3.47 (including tax etc) per can. They last twice as long and play way better.

I used to use these as my junk balls but I have switched to Wilson Triniti. The trinity's last longer so even at double the cost I get 4x the amount of play out of them. I might get a couple matches out of the Penn's but I can get 2-3 weeks of play out of Triniti's. And then I can throw them in my ball hopper for serve practice and get more utility out of them.

If they are made in China...I pass....the ones made in Thailand are much better...Any one notice the big "skin-tag" on the seam of recent Penns....affects the bounce in my experience...

Went to two Costco locations near me and both were out of stock of Penn tennis balls. Seems like the prices is increasing for Penn Championships. Target and Dick's selling one can for $5.99!

I found out the in store prices for Penn Championship in Target and Dick's are much cheaper than online price. It's around $2.2-$2.5 per can in store. There are always coupon with Dick's that you can use. One interesting thing i found Target sells a different batch of Penn Championship, which has a much bolder darker print of "Penn #" on the ball. It won't wear out after one match or two.

Walked into a local DKS and found a 6-pk of Penn regular-duty balls for $10. Later found a 6er of Wilson Championship balls for the same price.. Still have at least 4 unopened cans.

I bought 5 boxes from Costco for $29.99 back in Jun 2020. I donated them after using a few cans because I don't like the feel of Penn. I like Dunlop. Tennis warehouse sold a box of 24 for $60 with free shipping two months ago.

Our district distributed Costco Penn xtra-duty balls for League tennis matches. So we would swap them out on clay courts.

Sounds like a great deal until you play with them. My entire case has been pretty flat and not enjoyable to play with. I'll stick with Dunlops from now on.

What's insane is that Dick's is selling Wilson US Open cans for a dollar cheaper than the Penn Champs.

BIG 5 has competitive pricing for balls and also carries Dunlop 4-ball cans, which make the game go 25% faster not having to pick-up balls as much--there's always one ball that goes AWOL during a match necessitating a search party and wasting time.
