Anyone get picked babolat ambassador

LOL. I even applied. Got my rejection notice too. I thought I might at least get a set of free natty gut string. I wonder how many top 100 pros got picked or tennis academy icons.

Bet you the folks that were picked are NOT the type of folks you will find on these boards........Babs has TONS of "high end" testers (pros, techs, teaching pros...etc).

They were looking for that 2.0-3.0 weekend hacker that just loves the game but would not know a cap grommet from a butt cap.

We picked players from a variety of playing levels who play tennis quite often. In fact, we already have relationships with certain player demographics, and we saw this as an opportunity to formulate new relationships with players.

None of our ambassadors are professional players. Moreover, they span a variety of backgrounds, including age.

As a guy who's consistently used Babolat for 15 years and has had many friends switch to Babolat trying my frames, I'm kinda pissed I didn't get picked.

I'm sorry to hear that you are upset. We worked very hard to select the final ambassadors, and selecting 25 from 16,000 was no easy task. There was a reason it took us so long to notify our final 25.

Rest assured, though. We plan on having our second round of ambassadors in Summer of 2016.

I'm wondering about the efficacy of this marketing strategy. There are 25 happy ambassadors and 15,975 folks who might feel just a tiny bit let down. Twice a year or so I buy a $2.00 lottery ticket and have yet to win the big prize - I wasn't expecting to be selected by Babolat. If I were picking only 25 "ambassadors" I would be picking them from areas where there is growth potential for the business. Asia comes to mind, not NW Tennessee.

Are there any "perks" to being an ambassador for Babolat? What are the explicit/implicit responsibilities given to those selected by Babolat to become an Ambassador?

@Babolat Official I for one am not upset at all that I was not picked. I knew very early on my chances of being selected relied 100% on my application and 0% on my ability to advance to help Babolat advance thier brand. If the selection process were totally unbiased we all knew our chances of being selected were 1 in 4000, not very good. I also don't believe the 25 who were selected were selected solely on their application and if they were the selection committee are fools. If they were the committee were bigger fools. Makes Babolat look bad any way you look at it. I hope your ambassador program works for you.

Not me either, but I wasn't really expecting to be. Oh well, I keep entering the other TW giveaways and haven't won that either! Just keep trying and enjoying the game!

babs missed out with me, i would have been a fantastic ambassador for the new "babolat pure mid." i would be decked out in babolat gear as i got drunk on court, screamed obscenities, and then smashed the racquet.

Sounds like excellent PR to me.

I was wondering this as well. Do you get to fly places and promote the product to the masses? Is there immunity offered if you have to defend yourself against Prince or Head loyalists?

I only own four Babolats . . . rejected. I'm not the typically user, usually use control racquets, but at my age maybe time to change

Right? Suppose I wanted Camila Giorgi's phone number, could my position as an ambassador help me take her to dinner and the movies? How many times would I get to do this? Would I have to write a review after every date? Oh jeez I just had a realization, Will they forcibly include Sergio? Help!

I dont think bab needs any help with marketing. Theres a reason they sell more racquets then anyone else. Great marketing. They give so much stuff away and that creates sales. They know what they are doing. Only 25 people get picked but im sure they are all over the world and for all the people that see those people using bab thats just walking billboards. Not even counting the people that got picked that will prob atleast buy something babolat.. i think its a great marketing campaign and i didnt even get picked. Look at all the people talking about it too. Thats more marketing so its clearly working or they wouldnt be doing it again..

You would think other companies would take note. But it seems as if all other companies are committed to what worked in the past, and Babolat is the only company I see pushing boundaries. Sometimes old dogs need to learn new tricks. As much as I wish it were Prince, I have to tip my hat to Babolat, for total market domination. They are willing to experiment, and be a part of TW playtests, they are doing the ambassador program, and it seems to be working for them. Congratulations to the people who did get picked, wherever you are.

What we really need is VSbabolat as Head ambassador! Cause one does not simply find an honest Head rep around here..

We need to send a spy in Head's headquarters.

Ambassadors will receive free products as well as have the opportunity to test certain products and in return, they will give us both private and public feedback and serve as brand representatives.

I appreciate the kind words regarding the program. Of course, whenever you have 16,000 applications and only 25 spots, there are bound to be more upset people than not. I'm quite sure that in the 2 mins that it took to send and receive that e-mail, I became the most hated person of a portion of the 15,000 not selected. :(

Also, I wanted to clarify that the program is currently only in the US. We hope that one day we can expand globally, but that is for the future.

Don't worry about the complaints. You and Babolat are great. Unkind words or deeds are sour grapes. Keep up the excellent work on these boards. Looking forward to the summer rounds.

I was rejected also, but I was glad to get the chance. I think Babolat is really being cutting edge with this approach and in the end it should be a big help to them and us as players.

Thanks, @Mcmullenp4 ! For every angry e-mail and negative comment, there's a kind and thoughtful person that gives us energy to slog through it all. Sorry again about your application. To be safe, be sure to check in at the next application period!

I agree. I dont understand why other compsnies dont do things like this.. its worth the money in the long run. Give away a few things to a handful of people u just might boost your sales a bit.

I think it was a fun opportunity for all Babolat fans. My tennis group all wrote up applications. It was fun for us to chat about it, and hope, just like winning the Powerball jackpot. I am grateful that I was allowed to work with @Babolat Official on playtesting the Babolat POP. Hopefully I will get more opportunities in the future to playtest other Babolat products!

If I remember correctly, when Babolat first started making rackets they had reps at most all of the tournaments that had juniors and college players and they were giving rackets away hand over fist. What better way to get young players using your products than to give it to them....!

This thread made me laugh...of course I applied and didn't get chosen either, so I have called myself my own Babolat ambassador since I have so much stuff....Truth be told of all the different brands I have played with (Wilson, Technifibre, Dunlop) Babolat has had the best outreach and programs for engagement then any other brand. And I think their product and service is terrific. Its the only brand I have sent a cracked racquet back to that sent me a replacement immediately. The sadness at not getting picked is a testament to their product! They are selective in who they sponsor, so this is a good alternate program, I hope it works!
