Asian Ncode Tour 90

I bought an Asian Ncode Tour 90 from the auction site. It weighs 12.1 oz unstrung. And you know why? I happened to take the grip off the handle and found the truth beneath. The racquet is originally 4 1/4 grip size, and was added a full shrink sleeve, and changed to 4 3/8 butt & butt cap. It looks so cheap because the butt and handle is fastened by two Nails! That's why it weighs even heavier than the US version.

So take off the heat shrink and you should be all set, as far as the weight anyway. Hope you can play with a smaller grip though.

Break point,

I'm going to received my Asian version this week.

I'm planning to take off the leather grip, and replacement with a syn. grip would this make the racket even lighter ?

I have a U.S. version now and it's way too heavy for me.

Yes, it would by about 0.2 to 0.5 oz. depending on what type of replacement grip you put on it. But remember that the Asian version is already less head light than the U.S. version (~6 pts. HL vs. 9 pts. HL strung) so taking even more weight from the handle will make it even less headlight and more evenly balanced. So it depends on what kind of balance you like.

BTW, where did you get your Asian version from?

Off the bay auction.

The reason why I'm taking out the Leather is that I do not like the feel (hardness) of leather. Do you think I should put some lead on the handle when I put the replacment grip on ?

I'm playing with a 6.0 95 right now and it's 12.2 oz. strung.

Why don't you try it first without lead and if it feels the balance is too head heavy then add some lead later?

I guess you must have replaced the leather grip on the PS 6.0 95 as well, since mine are 12.5 oz. strung.

BTW, most people find that leather gives them more feel for the ball which results in more control. Most people also put an overgrip over the leather grip, like I do.

Yeah, I took off the leather grip on my PS 6.0 95 as well.

I'm gonna try it without lead first, but the leather feel way too hard for my hands.

Maybe I can add an overgrip to the replacement making close to the leather grip weight ?

MY U.S. specs Ncode Six-One Tour 90 weights, 12.6 oz without the leather is that right ?

Yeah, try an overgip. It won't add too much weight but it all depends on how headlight and heavy you like your racquets.

Yes, the U.S. nCode 90 with a synthetic grip is likely around 12.6 oz. since with leather it's about 12.9 oz.

Even a overgrip on top of the leather grip is still too hard for your hands?

asian version is 320 grams or 11.3 ounces unstrung

just got back from hong kong and picked up a few. can't wait to hit w/ them.

I am from HK and the asian version is like what EBTIDE said. Are you sure the one you bought is not counterfeit as there are lots of fake ones in China. I never see any stick that has nails in it not unless you want to frame it. That is why HK is good place to buy one on well known shops.

Yeah, it is.....

It's still too hard for me with the overgrip over the leather.

So ebtide, did you end up finding any good deals on the Asian version, and did you ever run across any 4 1/2's in HK?

Hmmm....perhaps your hands are too soft?

Do you use a lot of hand lotion? ;)

Maybe try doing some gripping exercises?

BTW, before they invented synthetic grips a few years ago, all racquets came with leather grips.

Breakpoint yes they have the sizes here which starts from L2 and it cost around 1K HK dollars /7.8 to be US$. And they give you free string as well.

Just out of curiosity BreakPoint. Why is it that you're so interested in the Asian Ncode 90? What is it about that stick that you like?

I know that they make the Asian nCode 90 with 4 1/2 grips as I own two of them. But they are hard to find in many Asian countries and are not available at all in some other Asian countries.

ebtide sent me an e-mail while he was in HK and said the places he went to did not have 4 1/2 grips but that he was going to check out a few other shops. Just wondering if he ever saw any. I'm not really looking for a new one right now as I'm waiting to see what the new K-Factor thing is all about first.

It's easier to play with than the U.S. nCode 90 because it's more maneuverable and it doesn't tire out your arm and shoulder during long matches. Also no shoulder soreness the next day.

The only real downside is that it has less power, and a hair less stability but still pretty darn stable overall. One of the most stable racquets that's barely 12.0 oz. I've ever hit with.

Actually, I had a tumor removed from my hand a couple years ago. So therefore, it hurts if the grip is too hard.

Thanks for the info, I'm going use the replacement grip and then a overgrip as well.

What's your ideal string tension for Asian nSix-One ?

On my current U.S. Spec nSix-one, I have Tonic 16L on Mains @ 60lbs. and ALU Rough @ 55lbs.

Oh, I see.

I've been going with looser tensions recently in my Asian nCode 90. Right now I use a soft multi in the mains at around 56 lbs. and a basic mono syn gut in the crosses at around 54 lbs. I can't use poly as it gave me golfer's elbow with this frame.

Any suggestion you have for me, as I like to use Nat. Gut on mains and Poly on crosses ?

I think that's a personal preference depending on how you swing at the ball, what kind of feel you prefer, and how much power and how much control works for your game. Best to experiment until you find the right combo for you.

I love my PS 6.0 95 strung at 65lbs. mains and 60lbs crosses.

But the nsix-one is a 90 head size, I want more control than power from my strings, as I can provide plenty of power.

No 4 1/2 in hong kong. I found about 10 shops and was lucky to find 4 3/8. Picked up the rackets at MRS for about $116 US. Read that article about the K factor. Can't wait to see it.

Wow, that's a good price! :D Perhaps they are discounting the nCodes ahead of the new K-Factor?

Gigasports were selling them at about $150 US. Luckily I was able to find MRS. BTW the directions on how to find the store I got from the forums was exact or I would have missed it completely. It was on the second floor of this old building. Kind of creepy at first, but shop is right there.
I was able to hit a few serves- this thing is much quicker then the us version. Should get a chance to hit this weekend. I'll post my review after.

Can't wait to see this new K factor!

I have the Asian version myself. I had 3 of them including 4 US versions. The grip has nothing to do with it. The racquet itself is lighter. If you have both types you ca easily tell the weight difference.

Wow jmk888! That racquet looks horrible. My new ncodes do not have the trap door in the butt and length is spelled correctly. I just got my ncodes... why would I want to sell them??:D

I guess there are a lot of fakes. I feel lucky that mine seem authentic... I hope!!

It was worth a try for me, I'm trying buy a REAL Asian Ncode Tour 90
