ATP and the ITF should...

Standardized everything to make everything fair. Here's what I think should happen :

1. All courts will be indoors now, and played on indoor hardcourts. This way weather and bad bounces will not play a part in tennis matches.

2. Players have at most only 20 seconds to serve. There is no discretion. You go over 20 seconds, it's a fault.

3. Players can not go over the allowed time on the change over, or they are given a point penalty, game penalty, than the player is forced to forfeit if they violate this rule 3 times. Strict enforcement.

4. All players are only allowed to play with a 90 square inch racquet.

5. Only one type of ball will be used for every tournament.

6. Players are only allowed to use one type of string, Natural Gut.

Same for everyone. This is completely fair no?

It's not fair on those who aren't great indoors, who play with a 90 inch racket but i agree on the time limit.

This is a little bit like Communist tennis no?

According to Nadal fan's complaints (which are reasonable), they want everything to be fair.

The plan I just purposed is equal and fair to everyone.

Nadal fans complain about weather and other factors affecting a tennis match (such as altitude, varying speeds of courts, etc.)

By playing indoors and on hardcourts (which has the least amount of bad bounces outside of skidding lines), you eliminate those factors. Also, by playing with only one racquet and one type of string, everything is completely fair for both players.

only hardcourts???

they should add a set penalty, and THEN a match penalty.

but seriously, this is idiotic.

No it's not. Nadal fans clearly think things are unfair on the ATP right now, so why don't we just standardize everything and eliminate all random factors?

Nah mate, tennis is for the most part an outdoor sport and that's the way it should be.

Agreed... and the umpire should be able to exercise their judgment about time in between points, based on court conditions (weather, noise, etc.).

The ATP and the ITF should take a cue from the Department of Homeland Security and assign a color-coded system so we can gauge the state of Nadal's knees. This is how they will be coded:

Blue: Nadal's knees are at 80%. Play may continue, but all news reports of the match must include that Nadal wasn't playing at 100%.

Yellow: Nadal's knees are at 70%. Play may continue, but he must receive 15 extra seconds between serves. His knees are hurting, after all.

Orange: Nadal's knees are at 60%. Play may continue, but players from all European countries must give Nadal at least two breaks of serve per set.

Red: Nadal's knees are at 25%. Play may NOT continue. Nadal's knees must go on lockdown. The trainer's room will be closed for everyone but Nadal. Local meteorologists must send a weather missile into the clouds in the area and stimulate rain.

Gerbeyngle: Nadal's knees are at 100%. Like the color it's named after, this situation does not exist.
