Puerta, Federer, Ferrer, Djokovic, Coria to name a few.
Okay, this is too funny, I have to bite. Even if it took an awfully long time to reply.

Puerta/Coria: Lol. Nadal met them less than 10 times. Combined. He also met them exactly... once at Roland-Garros, it was in 2005. Puerta turned pro in 1998 like Federer, but the latter is in the previous era and the former is relevant to the discussion. Coria is the same age as Federer but again, the latter is from the former era but not Coria? Coria has beaten Nadal exactly once on clay for 3 defeats. Puerta has never beaten Nadal at all.
Federer: Lapdog and we all know it. 2-13 record on clay, what a challenge!
Djokovic: Close to 80% of his career wins on hard and you call it a clay specialist? Sure a better clay courter than most of the tour, I'll give you that. 3-13 record on clay; better challenge than most on your list I guess.
Ferrer: Lapdog of a lapdog. 1-17 record on clay, what a challenge!

I fear for Federer's life against Rosol.

Why? Because he beat Nadal that one time 2 years ago? I like the guy but cmon. Federer will roll all over him. Rosol's tennis doesnt match up to Federer's, he wont be able to deal with it. It should be easy for Federer, even if ******** turns up, it'll be a close win instead of an easy win.

Because I needed to not make the assumption that he'll reach Djokovic to put his family at risk and because Federer's form is so far unconvincing. Enjoy the melodrama and please award me style points?

Jajiri looks like top 20 material. He could be the first Arabian boy to make the top 20 and and make history. but he looked more like tight end for the SF 49'er than a tennis player

I know that Federer didn't play well today but he can play better than that, we all know that. However, even though Djoko won easily, B-A didn't really stretch him so he didn't have to do anything special. I imagine that Federer would be more on his game against the top players so Djokovic would have to take more risks against Federer.

It will be a completely different game if they meet.

Lol so NOW you want Fed to win:) Don't worry, Nadal will still be number 1 for some time to come.

It gives the reason Nadal fans to keep bringing up the H2H, if Fed has better records against rest of the field. Hence, this newfound support for Fed to win against Djoker :)

I'd be okay with Djokovic losing since he has to go to NYC on Monday before Indian Wells. If he goes all the way to the Dubai final he'll be exhausted

Disagree. It's Federer who needs to take more risks against Djokovic. Novak is fitter, faster and has better stamina. Roger will need to play his best to beat Novak.
I expect Novak to beat the Swiss #2.

Novak needs this title to have a shot at #1 this year. He can't keep failing to defend titles and hope to get the #1 ranking back.

Where does this myth come from that everyone is better than Roger in the top 4 and that since Nadal has a winning H2H he is just...terrible.

Yeah Nostradamus, you mainly.

Fact = Roger is the still the greatest HC player of all time when he is on.
Fact = Roger is still the best grasscourt player.

So what, he didn't dominate clay against the clay goat. Nadal getting pushed by Andujar, Darcis, and Rosol in his prime and you are going to argue that the h2h with Fed means he is the greatest ever despite holding 1/10th the records Fed does.

Dream on. This forum is ridiculous.

Djokovic is better than 32 year old Federer.

Well mostly because it's not really a myth. The only guy who's arguably "not better" than Roger right now is Andy. I agree with the Nadal part (last paragraph), and the fact that the H2H doesn't make him terrible, but your two claims are highly debatable. Even if Federer is "on", Djokovic is probably better on HC if he's "on" these days, and Murray is probably better on grass right now even though historically neither one of them are close to Federer's overall achievements on the respective surfaces.

I still think he's favoured slightly against guys like Berdych, Wawrinka, Tsonga and Delpo, and everybody else, but it's much closer than it used to be and he needs to play well to beat them.

Federer will still have a chance against anyone he plays, contrary to what some believe, but he is not the favourite against Djokovic or Nadal anymore.

I understand your frustration with the inaccuracy of some views like Federer being "terrible" though, and I think that's mostly where your frustration is directed. It is a gross exaggeration, but as I said, I don't think Federer is the favourite in every match he plays anymore, particularly against Djokovic and Nadal.

Gotta disagree with you there mate. Novak didn't play at all for 5 weeks leading up to this tournament so even if he reaches the final exhaustion is the last thing he should be feeling.

Yeah pretty much this, I was just frustrated.

looks like Federer ate the beanz and provided the much needed Fartz to power this thread up.

Roger is just brutal. He starts playing and suddenly queens of clay, whoever they may be, want to tune in and smell the action.

Berdych takes the first set. Never thought a match between 2 top 10 players (and especially including Tsonga) could be so dull...

Went to a mall to buy glasses, headphones, and stuff, saw the match in a window, and decided to go upstairs, have a beer, and watch this instead.
